Strategy with the tiniest flavor of rpg
Heroes of Annihalated Empires is classical RTS game with base building but it also has rpg elements with the main heroe - an elf nothing less - who has to finish different quests but this more or less a part of standard strategy quest scheme. The game has a very good storyline but since the game wen't mostly unnoticed the storyline was never finished with an expansion. You will get at least 10 hours gameplay out of it if you are a very good strategy games player. If you are more of a casual player you will get over 20 hours for sure but probably a lot more. Its unfortunate that the game went unfinished since they brought a really interesting sci fi element in the end - you could see a kind of a Red Alert tank there hinting at a new science faction for the new game which unfornately never came. The game if I remember correctly was released in the time that Warcraft 3 came and was just a footnote because of that - similar to Imperial Glory and Empire: Total War. Well eitherway. Highly recommend the game to any strategy player.

Interesting but limited game
Heroes of Annihiliated Empires is an interesting game for many reasons. It has beautiful art, an interesting combination of RTS and RPG and the four factions are highly unique. However there are a few flaws: 1.Lack of humanity: There is a lack of human faction of any form in this game. 2.Map choice is rather limited. 3.The game is difficult to beat. Other than that, I still think it is a game that I would highly recommend to others.

Review about the release here on GOG
Ngl, after searching everywhere and even the steam version being broken, i waited for years, because i wasn't going to load up an old system just to play one game (tempting though as i love HOAE) But now? now i got it here, and i can finally play it, and while i love it i do have to report a few issues The cutscenes does not works, atleast on windows 10 they do not, at all, while the game works well, graphics too, not a single issue not even on the UI and Texts (things that on old versions were completely broken for me outside GOG), the cutscenes does not plays, at all, i would love a small update or some fix for it. Besides of that? 10/10, it actually works, i played already some lan parties with my friends, love it

homepage still active
I just discovered that the homepage of the game is still up: www.heroesofae.com It shows there that it was planned as trilogy. Maybe outdated content but still nice to watch and some nice design art. Check it out.
