Ghost of a Tale is an action-RPG game in which you play as Tilo, a mouse and minstrel caught up in a perilous adventure. The game takes place in a medieval world populated only by animals, and puts an emphasis on immersion and exploration. It features stealth elements, disguises, conversations with allies and enemies, and quests.
You’ll be able to explore the secrets of Dwindling Heights Keep and navigate its dangers. Tilo is not much of a fighter, so stealth and nimbleness are your allies when confronted with enemies twice your size. Talk to the characters you meet and leave no stone unturned in your quest to find Merra, your true love….
About the team:
Ghost of a tale is developed by a very small team. Lionel "Seith" Gallat does 90% of the art, design and coding. Paul Gardner is the game's writer and an experienced game designer. Cyrille Paulhiac does coding and develops tools. Jeremiah Pena is the game's composer, while Nicolas Titeux is responsible for sound design.

Great game, with great textures and ambiance. The story is great, the map as well and the gameplay stay pretty simple to understand. There is no violence, and even if I love The Witcher serie/ Dark souls I find this very nice to play. A game for everyone. Please keep this game up !
I grew up reading Mossflower and Redwall. Loved getting a chance to live the life of Tilo the mouse.
From the screenshots you can see the world is beautifully rendered. But I was also very impressed with the writing and story.
Took me about 20 hours to finish (completed all the secondary quests). Had to use hints/spoilers a few time to progress, and I found myself easily getting confused about how to get back to a previous location, but apart from that I loved it.
If you like story and exploration games I recommend spending some time at Dwindling Heights :)
I'll keep the review short: This is a delightful, top-notch game. Think of the book "Redwall" meets the game "Thief" + maybe "Skyrim" or the "Witcher 3" or heck, even "Deus Ex".
You play as a mouse, Tilo, who has to escape the prison run by the Rat King, in order to then go on to rescue your wife, Merra. The Rats are big, strong, and powerful, so the emphasis is on stealth and exploration (hence the comparison to "Thief" or even "Deus Ex", games where stealth played a huge role). There is also quite a bit of lore and wonderful description in the game (sort of like "Skyrim") and some genuinely interesting and humorous interactions with NPC's (ok, not like "Skyrim," where you pretty much travelled places and wound up just killing the NPC's no matter what...but reading the journals and letters were fun!).
If you are like me, you've bought a huge number of games, and then barely play most of them, and/or start a game, but get bogged down, something pulls you away and you can't bring yourself to start over again. This game has me hooked...I keep coming back for more, I love the exploration aspect and I don't mind backtracking over areas I previously explored. The game is that fun!
I will also mention, the graphics are top-notch! Hard to believe this was the work of primarily one person. The music and audio are fantastic, too. My only wish was that it was a bit easier to play with keyboard and mouse, but honestly, the Xbox joypad is perfect, I just had to dig it out from the bottom of a drawer.
The game is beautiful, but not much more. The history is boring. The quests are badly discribed, so the player wastes a lot of time running in amoc in the claustrophobic castle from place to place. The AI is stupid, the big rats are following you for 10 meters and then they meet the end of their area, so they go back like nothing ever happend. Because of that player starts to run like crazy instead of being sneaky. After playing it for few days I came to conclusion that it's not pleasant to play this game, it reminds a work, because nothing really rewards your efforts and not much happens in the game.
Well, I don't recommend this game, this is the perfect example to not judge a book by its cover.
TL;DR: for those that love games like KOTOR, this is something for you. An overarching plot with character driven subplots winding around a beautiful and interactive world.
Gameplay: it's all about sneaking and solving puzzles, the best aspect is that you are rewarded for exploration. Investigating your surroundings is a must, and you will find characters, items, and paths through your work.
Controls: the weak point of the title, occasionally janky and needs some getting used to.
Graphics: gorgeous, though some computers may struggle to keep up. The design overall is phenomenal and immersive.
Story: mainly in the form of text, though a lot of world building occurs in the environment, a lot of love and tears has gone down into making a believable and interesting fantasy world with endearing characters.
That's my take on the game, a work of art if you ask me, I hope we will get a Ghost of a Tale 2.
