F.E.A.R. Platinum

I loaded and Played This great game on windows 10 , after trouble shooting the config file myself. I then set the cofig for windows 10 to play it. I saved and tested the save. I then played some other games for a week. I came back to this game and tried to load it/ guess what. Everything went right back to the same NO load Config file was overwritten with my cloud save being active and I had to start over , My Saved game was gone. When I tried to reload the save from backup. Same config problem. They are giving it away because it won't play on windows 10 without issues. This review will not be seen as it will be edited and or deleted. I hope GOG is paying attention. KQ

Overall, the first two missions would be a 4/5 for me, but the missions after all have issues that are killing me. The SloMo is very fun to use at first, but almost every encounter is stale and plays out the same for me. The enemy variety is lacking, with 90% of the roster you fight being grunt units doing the same thing again and again. My biggest problem with the game, for me, has to be the maps. Very unintuitive, with no clear progression or objective. I've probably spent 1/4 of my playtime walking around, trying to figure out where to go. So far, the first two missions were worth it, as I got the game at a good sale price, but finishing this game is a chore to me.

I waited to review these games until I beat all of them and in the meantime spent months in-between mostly to avoid burning out, so I may have forgotten some aspects of the first two titles. The base game I give 5 stars and wholeheartedly recommend. My only complaint is that it can be a bit easy despite putting it on hard or the third difficulty. I barely had to use the slow-mo mechanic, but getting into gunfights in this game is something I wish more games would put effort into. I had no problem running the game, only getting few dips here and there. It is a gorgeous game to boot. It's well paced even if it the last few sections kind of drag on a bit. Basically think Half-Life clone that's actually good. Extraction Point is also very good, if a bit short, but that's expansions for you. It builds off the game and actually gives much needed level variety, and is much harder to boot, and tops off the story satisfactorily. Its biggest flaw however is that it is not optimized for 1080p, isn't actually a default option and I had to go into the files to force into 1080p, and my PC could barely just chug along certain sections. It's not a great PC. Perseus Mandate on the other hand is basically just more FEAR. I'd give it 2 stars if I had to review it as a standalone product, but bundled with the rest it's alright if mediocre. I didn't hear good things about it so while it starts off bad, a boring ugly mess, it actually gets better in the latter half. Story is fanfic levels of bad and I'm not surprised it's not canon despite the cliffhanger, not that FEAR goes on to be better as a whole anyway. Overall, it's a great game, a great expansion, and a mediocre expansion that starts off bad but then actually gets better.

I am bad at doing reviews but this game is just still one of my favorites.

F.E.A.R. to genialny shooter, z elementami horroru. Jako żółtodziób w tytularnej jednostce paranormalnych komandosów, będziemy na szpicy odkrywać tajemnicę nieludzkich eksperymentów prowadzonych na zlecenie skorumpowanej korporacji (kto by pomyślał ;). Proste zadanie okaże się trudniejsze gdy na drodze staną nam: kanibal, sklonowani super-żołnierze i tajemnicza dziewczynka :O Niepewność i lęk towarzyszyć będą nam tu nieustannie, ale jako że arsenał mamy tu spory, a do tego dochodzi bullet time, to momenty strzelania jest tu niesamowitą nagrodą. Poziom trudności jest tu naprawdę wysoki, a dzięki świetnemu AI, naprawdę można mieć wrażenie, że przeciwnicy myślą. Flankują nas, chowają się za osłonami, prowadzą ogień zaporowy itd. Po dziś dzień robi to wrażenie. Grafika po prawie 20 latach jest znakomita, szczególnie dobrą robotę robi dynamiczne oświetlenie i efekty strzałów. Dźwięk jest cudowny: odgłosy spadających łusek, rykoszetów i wybuchów miażdżą. A momenty halucynacji są po prostu audiowizualną ucztą strachu. Ciary! Dodatki są nieco bardziej liniowe niż podstawka, ciut mniej intrygujące i choć ostatecznie nie wliczają się do kanonu serii, to warto się z nimi zapoznać. Małymi wadami są czasami lekkie ścinki i możliwe problemy na nowszym sprzęcie, lecz jest to możliwe do połatania. Podsumowując, F.E.A.R. to obowiązkowa pozycja dla każdego fana zarówno horrorów jak i strzelanek. Twórcy pokazali w tej produkcji, jak należy robić FPS-y. Polecanko do kwadratu, 9,5/10.
