Better with age

At release this game was a disappointment, but without all of the hype resting on its shoulders its a great adventure. Picking up where The Longest Journey left off, it tells a related but altogether different story. The non-puzzle elements aren't great, and the ending is quite a TERRIBLE cliffhanger, but the atmosphere is something special. It expands the world first seen in The Longest Journey considerably, and exploring it in 3d brings it to life. It lacks the challenging puzzles of the previous game, but still has more in that area than most "modern" adventure games released after it. I guess we didn't realize how dead the genre really was when this came out in 2006! They really experimented a lot here, and while it is hit or miss at times, it's really more hit in my opinion. I'm looking forward to what they can do in the sequel they are FINALLY going to attempt.

More a movie than a game

I loved the longest journey, hated this one. Two stars for : - Very good french (and english) voice over - Pleasure to meet again April Ryan and Crow Ragnar Tornquist didn't understand that the pleasure to create a game must be based on making the players pleased, that the players are the actor and not a spectator of the game. Here we have : bad gameplay, very loooong dialogues, ridiculous fights, ridiculous end of cutscenes that last a too much long time (lack of cinema expreriences ? i think about editing a movie...). First half part is quiet ok. After, you don't play, you start from A to go to B and then cutscene, and cutscene, and so one. What a shame.. That ruined everything ! I bought the Dreamfall Chapters (as i done for Dreamfall thinking it would be as good as the very first one episode). Hope he did a better work.. for players !

Its a great game for itself...

BUT its no worthy successor for the first game. I mean its a great adventure and i had tons of fun with the story, but its no riddle-driven Point and Click Adventure like TLJ. So if you played TLJ only for tricky riddles and this kind of gameplay, then you wont have much fun with this one. But if you liked the story of the first one and want to know what comes next then you should totally buy this game :)

My heart journey

Played all three titles in span of 15 years and its one the best journey and adventure experience in gaming world.
