Old school inspired shooter at its best!

I didn't think this game would come to GoG because the developers said GoG rejected it. So I've been waiting a couple months hoping it'd finally come here and it did. The game is great, it has all the stuff that's typically left out of GoG releases that come from Steam—leaderboards are here, weekly challenges, online and couch CooP. I mean, there's really nothing here not to like other than the map editor is not currently present. The game plays like an old school shooter with a modern twist. You can take cover, you can upgrade your gear and your skills. There's a bit of tactics sprinkled in, too. You will die easily, especially in the beginning. There's multiple classes to choose from each specializing in different tactics. A breacher for example. You can buy flashbangs, guns, armors, etc. The action is fun and somewhat tense. Shooting is satisfying. There's a huge main campaign. There's multiple bad guys that each need to be approached differently. You got weekly challenges, an infinite tower mode, a zombie mode ... If you like the these retro-type of games do yourself a favor and pick it up. Just don’t buy it thinking it’s like OG Door Kickers. This is fun action oriented spin off. Again, the map editor is not here and will hopefully be added soon.

Fun time with a friend with caveats

I played this game + it's DLC with a friend and we both had a good time. Unfortunately, there are some issues we had with the game: 1) There's a bug that makes the Gear Refill not do anything (at least while in coop, haven't tried it in single player. So be warned: if you play this in coop, don't waste your time doing the Gear Refill until this is patched 2) The game doesn't really explain any of its mechanics or gameplay. You'll basically have to learn from just playing the game and figuring stuff out yourself or from guides online. This got especially annoying in the "Professionals Abroad DLC" where certain new features that only showed up in that DLC cropped up that we weren't informed about. Like there's one mission where after finding the main target you have to arrest, he starts to flood the area your in (you can't swim btw). So after arresting him, you have to escape to higher ground. We failed this because we didn't know that we could climb on pipes. Climbing pipes was never done in the base game. 3) The game crashed once, but this was in the "Professionals Abroad DLC", so it might just be an issue with the DLC.

Great action and soundtrack

Great action. It's so much fun to explore each level. The many heroes, weapons, and equipment keep it challenging and never boring. I really like the pixel graphics. But the best thing is the really good soundtrack. It doesn't get any better than that.

Door Kickers: Action Squad Is So Fun!

Door Kickers: Action Squad is one of my favorite games. I've put about 30 hours into it, and I still have plenty of stages and new modes to get through. This game is a side-scrolling shooter with RPG elements. You play as several different characters, each with their own special skillset and perks, which you can upgade. It's evenly balanced gameplay, for the most part, as it stays challenging as you upgrade your characters. Each stage has you doing something different, but it's all action, all the time. The game keeps it interesting, as the stages change slightly whenever you die. For example, when you have to find a bomb to diffuse, it can be located in different spots.. and enemies can act differently towards you. You'll love the catchy soundtrack and 80's charm to the game. Overall, this game is very well designed. I can tell that this was a passion project that had a lot of love put into it. It's so rare for me, but I'm giving this game a 10/10, as I couldn't find anything to complain about.

Really good tactical side scroller

I gave a 5-star due to enjoying the tactical and casual gameplay. It might take you some time to get the hang of it but in the end is worth it. The game offers different way of playing through its roster of characters. My favorite pick is the breacher. Give it a chance, you won't regret it!
