Sidescrolling shooter for fun
Something along the lines of Ruiner, Hotline Miami, the newer JYDGE, but with an 80s feel and pixel art. And you can play with your friend. Very realistic game, it's exactly how the LAPD operates.

Geat mix of tactics and BroForce
Story&Gameplay: There is no story but the key element the character and gun handling is on point and never feels unfair while being demanging at the same time. The gamplay varies from fast paced to tactical and is very challenging if you want to finish the levels with 3 stars. You progress through levels with increasing difficulty and learn while playing. There are several characters such as Assault, Recon, Shield and more. They all have different skils and skilltrees. You will unlock skills and weapons that are only usable for you chraracter but also others that are usable by the other chrarcters. This makes the progression very satisfying since you do not have to start from scratch when starting with a new charracter. Visuals&Sound It has a really awesome soundtrack which puts you right into the 80s kind of vibe. It is the first thing you will notice after starting and already makes sitting in the menu kind of exciting. The graphic style is very fitting and makes for a good athmosphere. If you don't like Pixelart it is nothing for you though. Conclusion The game is great in my opinion, especially with friends in Coop. Gameplay is great and visuals and sound will pull you right in. If you can find anything interesting in Hotline Miami, Broforce, Doorkickers and other Sidescrollers like Mark of the Ninja give this game a shot. You wont regret it.

Glad I Picked It Up
So happy I picked this up. While I can only comment on solo play, I am having a blast mowing down enemies and enjoying the rad 80's throwback music. Enemies are varied and challenging. The game isn't just about run and gun as you need some strategy involved. I did find myself favoring certain classes for certain missions. For instance, I'd use the shield class for missions that call for enemy elimination and recon for hostage rescue when precision is called for. The level up system is pretty good and varied for each class. There are multiple mission play (hostage rescue, arrest, bomb defusing and murder all suspects). On top of that, they have a zombie mode (rehash of 'campaign' but with zombies), survival mode (climb a building and clearing as many floors as possible) and weekly events (albeit I am not sure how this is going to play out). A few bugs were found but none were game breaking. AI was stupid in a few areas where enemies dropped to their deaths trying to chase you. Overall, for $10, while it is on sale, this game is great fun and well worth my money spent.

Not like the original Door Kickers, but
Still a fun game. This one is a 2D sidescrolling action-oriented game compared to the strategic RTS that the original DK was. More suited to a controller than the mouse-oriented original, DK:AS features a wealth of pre-designed maps to beat plus weekly challenges and a randomly-generated tower mode. Only criticism so far is that some of the maps get a little bit nutty with throwing waves of enemies at you after you have "cleared" areas already and there are some very random difficulty spikes here and there.

Strategic side-scrolling SWAT action
At first glance, ‘Door Kickers: Action Squad’ doesn’t seem like it has roots in the RTS genre. While it’s an action-oriented spinoff of ‘Door Kickers’ with plenty of shooting, this game still involves strategizing to some degree. One wrong move (e.g., breaching a room from the wrong direction, reacting too slowly, not gearing up properly) could mean losing a hostage’s or your life. ‘DKAS’ may not be a fast-paced, non-stop side-scrolling shooter like ‘BroForce’, but it still delivers hours of explosive fun. Although the game is subtitled “Action Squad”, you complete missions by yourself as one of 6 classes of characters/SWAT members. You can bring in a partner by playing co-op locally or online, which is rather fun, if you want a little support. Either way, you’ll need to move methodically and precisely; you can’t simply shoot your way through a mission in a frenzy and hope for the best. In ‘DKAS’, you’ll need to think about how to upgrade your characters. As you kill or arrest enemies, and rescue hostages, you’ll get skill points for rebuilding armor, refilling gear, replenishing health, reviving your teammate, earning an extra life, and using ultimate attacks. Each time you play will also earn you experience points for buffing your character. Stars that you receive for completing each mission can be used to purchase better weapons and gears. There’s a lot of game in ‘DKAS’: 3 game modes (Infinity Tower, Classic, and Zombie) and 4 mission types (Hostage Rescue, Clear Hostiles, Bomb Defusal, and Arrest Warrant). Although ‘DKAS’ hardly gets tiresome given the variety of modes and mission types, it can be slightly frustrating to play if you don’t upgrade your characters adequately. Still, this is a game that’s easy to recommend. It has just the right mix of action and light strategy, making it an appealing title for many gamers.
