Surprised me!
Came in with low expectations and it kind of blew me away. Excellent level design and atmosphere. Sound design is also very good. Possibly the most derivative game I have ever played, but well executed generally, with only a few minor issues. As of 2025, this game ran perfectly, and controlled just fine on k+m. However, I did have to turn the mouse sensitivity up to solve some sluggish aim issues. I got this game for free, but I would have been happy if I purchased on a sale.

Really good game with a couple of flaws.
First of all Im am not a native english speaker so I'm sorry for all the mistakes I'll make in this review. This review is subjective, so it doesn't mean what I'm going to say is true for every player. It is worth mention that I dont't know the devs and I will make some assumtions because of this. To keep it short ill do a list of good and bad things: THE GOOD: -It is heavily inspiredi resident evil 2 and 3 remake making it really fun to play but it has is own personallity . -The unique mecanics of this game are fabulous. The reload mecanic keep you onn your toes before every battle making sure your guns have ammunition. And the overdose mecanic force you to not rely on chemicals that much. -The locations are fun to traverse and you have open ares and situations of really close quarters so you have to adapt the combat to the location. -Referesces to the pop culture are not likede by everyone but I love them and this game knows how to take itself bit less serius sometimes and make some funny moments to remember. -The puzzles are challenging but not challenging enough to make them tedious taking some time to resolve but not enough to make me look into a guide. THE BAD/COUD BE BETTER: -The story is really interesting but sometimes is not told in the best way and that hurts the it a lot. -The boss battles: For me this is the big elephant in the room with this game. Even though the devs make research to make the boss battles (you can tell when you play the game) It is also palpable that they didn't have that much experience or time to make it well enough. The boss battles are tedious and sometimes almost unfair. All the boss battles but the firts one are against the same boss with no changes in his patterns, changing just the map. This battles almost make me leave the game halfway because of how bad I think they are. Even they had everything on the paper right they coudn't for lack of experience I believe make it right on the practice.

.went back to 1998 and had a great time
read a lot of negative feedback on Daymare before purchasing it, but I played the demo and really enjoyed that. I could tell this was going to be a "LOVE or HATE" game for me, so I purchased it on my own head; and I don't regret it. Daymare is a homage to oldschool survival horror, and aside from the 3rd person camera it fits well into the old tropes like limited recourses, methodical exploration and files/audio logs. And it's not easy, atleast on DAYMARE difficulty which is described as how the developer intended the game to be played for an authentic experience. I want to cover quickly some mechanics and aspects of the game that people have a problem with. Combat and inventory is clunky, voice acting is cheesy, and the enemies are a bit limited. But for me, these weren't problems. I understand that the developers were on a budget and limited team so considering what they managed to make, it's impressive for me. Clunky gunplay adds to more tense encounters, I really enjoyed the story and characters, the inventory system is very cool and again doesn't pause the game so you have to use it wisely. Though enemies are limited it variety the existing ones do well to give you a bad day; be it the slower shambling zombies or larger and faster ones with stronger attacks! The environments are varied; labs, woods, town streets and locales, a hospital etc, and are all dark and rich with tense atmosphere. I was constantly having my gun ready while slowly approaching corners in apprehension. While it is mainly influenced by Resident Evil 2, I think the soundtrack is very diverse and rich. The cutscenes are longer and more fleshed with character too; the story isn't glossed over. And the references to RE vary from blatant (like typewriters laying around) or enemies and characters that have remind me a bit of say, William Birkin or HUNK, but are enough of their own person. Overall, I just can't fault this game. It isn't perfect but it is playable and full of passion.

Good game!!
People compare Daymare with RE but that not makes sense, just imagine compare a Lamborgini with a sedan. Is a good game with good mechanics. There are some bugs but noting that can affect the game. For me it was amazing and i will buy Sandcastle due to is completely different as RE.
