No need to play, but if you want...

I played Chaser a long time ago, so my memory could be a bit blurry. I cannot say this is a very very bad shooter, don't buy it. Actually, as I remember, that was first fps with slo-mo (Max Payne was TPS). So it gave some fun to player. Another good thing - a really nice plot. Amnesia, yes, but searching for original hero identity - that was good made. And, there are similar things to Total Recall movie's plot (journey to Mars, for example). Not bad visual, as I recall. Especially in Siberia-levels. But there are some major flaws. Gigantic, half-empty and repetitive levels with few enemies with "dead"-environment. Shooting has no adrenaline due-to lazy AI. Really awful one stealth-level and two underwater levels (I guess, they try to copy similar levels from NOLF, but without early Monolith's talent). That's all. I am not regret for playing this game, but second walk through... I can't make it. Cause Chaser happen to be boring as shooter.

The epitome of average

Chaser isn't bad. Sadly, it also isn't good. In amazement I played some six hours straight of burning mediocrity. The shooting works, the forced stealth is forced, the plot plods along an ok pace and the voice acting is not too terrible. And that's it. There is NOTHING unique of exceptional about this game, everything has been done and much better (and much worse). If you have played every and all shooters on your list, MAYBE this one is for you. Though I'd rather recommend something else. Like Quake 4, Doom 3, Breed, Timeshift... There's a lot around.

Classic FPS

Bought this, at full price, and so far I'm pleased with it. It's why I like FPSs from the late 90s through late 2000s, before graphics became indistinguishable from movies and required massive desktop rendering power. Interestingly, I hadn't heard of Chaser until browsing at GOG. It's like James Bond 007 NIghtfire meets Halo Combat Evolved. For guys who like straightforward missions, good but not excessive amounts of action, easy to learn yet satisfying weapons, and exciting soundtrack and effects, this is definitely a game you ought to consider.

Deja Vu

Playing this game, you'll experience deja vu. That's because you've played games like this before. There's nothing new or particularly good here. You've played better games. The slo-mo isn't as fun as Max Payne 2 or Fear, mostly due to the lack of ragdoll physics. Every criticism people have is completely valid. However, I still kind of like it. I play this when I need a diversion and don't want to think about tactics. I play it with a mod that removes the hud, which makes it more enjoyable.

Not bad for the time

I remember playing this when it first came out; it got pretty good reviews and was considered a good game given the somewhat obvious low budget. Of course it lacks many more modern gameplay features like a cover system, etc., but it was thought of as a good classic-style shooter at the time.
