Brütal Legend is an action-adventure that marries visceral action combat with open-world freedom. Set in a universe somewhere between Lord of the Rings and Spinal Tap, it’s a fresh take on the action/driving genre, which in this case is full of imitation cover bands, demons intent on enslaving humanity and Heavy metal tunes. Featuring the talents of comedian, actor and musician, Jack Black as super roadie Eddie Riggs, as well as cameos by some of the biggest names in metal music, it's a wild ride in the belly of the beast that is not to be missed!
You have the freedom to walk, drive, or fly anywhere in a fully streaming open world whose art style is inspired by some of the most iconic and hilariously rad metal album covers ever created. Felt like wanting to get back into early 2000 metal recently and Brutal Legend was perfect for that.
This is a short (less then 10h) game that is just very well made in my opinion, you can tell the team had a lot of fun making it. It has aged pretty well, although the RTS genre is definitivly out of fashion and that the difficulty can spike at random places making it a bit frustrating, my biggest advice for that would be to just take your time in the RTS missions and slowly max out your troops and upgrades before trying to finish of your ennemy.
Apart from that, the story is great and overall very parodic and over the top which is perfect for a game about metal. I was suprised to see it does sometime becomes a bit more mature though and it was appreciated.
Afterdoing tech supports job for em, and spendiung a few days working out the launch issues, i now can play; for anywhere from 5 minutes to 30, before it crashes to desktop
This game absolutely commits to the bit. It encapsulates the 2000s obsession with heavy metal and "gnarly" guitars. The writing is genuinely funny and the world is great to explore. Only downside for me is the odd strategy game elements towards the end of the campaign.
It's not perfect BUT the magic of Jack Black and heavy metal rock n roll shine bright in this timeless masterpiece of a video game. I got it on sale too, so that was a bonus. I dig this game and highly recommend it to anyone.
