Good old game
one of my all time favorite games, keyboard controls stink but still holds up well all these years.

Loved Every Moment
Before I started playing this, neither the graphical style or the action-adventure genre really appealed to me. A friend had highly recommended this one so I tried it, and I'm so glad I did. I'll never forget the story or the characters in this game. The game plays much like a film. The whole world is carefully crafted to be meaningful & enjoyable the whole way through. There are a number of mini-games in the game that in themselves are very enjoyable. If I have to say anything bad about it, it's that I experienced a couple of bugs in the game. I resolved both of them using the powers of teh internets, but one of the bugs was actually a show stopper for a while. It required me patching the game and applying a fix to my save games. Don't let that put you off playing it though; Some of the best films have as many goofs as the worst ones. I'm very much looking forward to playing the upcoming sequel.

Great Game, but not on PC
This is one of those games that often crops up in lists of "most under-appreciated games of all time," or something similar. I certainly agree that this is a terrific game, or else I would not have already played it twice on two different systems. It has a terrific art style, endearing characters, an intriguing story and setting, and simplistic but engaging adventure/stealth gameplay. It even has minigames such as races and a fascinating and addictive photography game, as well as lots of bonus items to find and collect. However, there is one big problem with this iteration of Beyond Good and Evil that merits attention. This is a PC port of a console game, but for some bizarre reason, it DOES NOT FEATURE GAMEPAD SUPPORT. At all. Your control choice is WASD + Mouse, and for a game with occasionally fixed/changing camera angles, this is not idea. It's not a complete dealbreaker, but if you have the ability to play BGE on an older system (it's on PS2, XBOX, and Gamecube),I would recommend that. That said, the PC version looks much nicer on today's systems, and runs great. And It's better to play a slightly clunky version of one of the most underrated games ever than not to play it at all.

Awesome game, with some flaws
I love this game. The animation, the sound, the music, the gameplay and the scenario. You've literally from the first minutes are into the main character Jade. She is beautiful but vulnerable. Other character are pretty unique too. Jokes about ham (do not confuse with HAM), Carlson&Peters and many other local jokes. I really do love the game. First time I've played this game in 2004. Since then this was my second time to play in 2022. However, why I have not rated it 5 of 5? Initialy I was going to rate as 3/5, but eventually decided to go with 4. The game is not really stable: I had 2-3 crashes before saving. Visual glitches and artefacts: no matter what settings I've changed I still had visual artefacts on the screen. The other major flaw is the camera. Oh, I can not stand fixed 3p-cinematic camera. When you need to fast rotate and see what's over there, sometimes due to some reasons the camera allows me only to move up and down, and vise versa. The controls in the other pain. Ok, ok, I get it: the game was built for the consoles. But does it mean we (as PC players) should be suffering too? And the final boss battle. Who's that brilliant idea to reverse the controls during the final battle when you literally have no chance for mistake? (No spoilers though). The aspect ratio. It does not fixed for the wide screens. The built in settings up is somewhat buggy and doesn't allow me to change the resolution nor the refresh rate. As a result I had to play with stretched 4:3 to 16:9 all the time. And also I had to lock the refreshrate on 60Hz in order to avoid the audio-video mismatch. The other thing I've only understood after playing this game 18 years later. It is not much replayable. You can see and do almost anything during the first gameplay. No rush, no skip. Everything would be smooth and silk. But not much random events, with exception of racing events. So, let's sum this up. I recommend the game... only if you have patience to deal with issues above.

Wonderful Gem of a Game
This was my first time playing Beyond Good and Evil. I had only heard of it for the first time a few years ago. After finishing it, I can't believe this game didn't sell well. + The story is great. The characters are all likable, nicely designed, and wonderfully voice-acted. Jade, Pey'j, and Double H are the obvious stand-outs. + The gameplay is fun. It's a action/adventure game with puzzle and stealth elements as well as vehicle gameplay. Everything works well together and nothing feels tacked on. + The world feels developed and fully realized (there's a lot of side quests that not only add to the amount of content but also flesh out the world), the art is great, and the music is top-notch and helps build a unique atmosphere. However, I did have some issues: - The PC controls can be annoying and awkward at times. Driving the hovercraft is especially frustrating. There are many missions/side quests that involve precise driving and the controls just aren't as precise as they should be. The missions aren't impossible, but the wonky driving controls make them a tad annoying. - There were multiple points where the audio completely cut out during cutscenes. I don't usually play games with subtitles on so I missed *everything*. During a key cutscene towards the end I missed important backstory and had no choice but to load an old save and turn subtitles on. Despite these complaints I would still recommend Beyond Good and Evil. The game provided a wonderfully unique experience that should not be missed!
