Linux version needs updating/retirement
I bought this for completeness, as I had purchased the (excellent) original releases ages ago and still have them in my library. Tried running it under Linux Mint 20.3 (Ubuntu Focal (20.4) base) and it wouldn't start. Investigation showed that the failure to launch was due to EE's dependency on an outdated version of libssl. I wasted a little time figuring out the issue and my solution was to uninstall BG2EE. I can run the original just fine under linux using Wine, which is what I'll do after reading the other reviews about the added content I'm "missing".

Not as good as BG1, but still good
Baldur's Gate 2 is an amazing game. It's one of the best RPG's ever made. But... in my opinion, I thought the first Baldur's Gate was better. I thought the story in BG1 was better. I also thought the towns and numerous wilderness areas in BG1 were better than the locations in BG2. And tbh, I just thought BG2 was too long. I know that might sound silly to say, especially because I do think it's an amazing game... but it was just super long. By the time I finished the Throne of Bhaal expansion, I was glad to be done with it. But don't let that stop you from playing it. Like I said... it's a great game. If you loved the first Baldur's gate, you will love this one as well! If you never played the Baldur's Gate games, do yourself a favor and just play them, you won't regret it.

one of the best rpg's of all time
what a great game i played this game back in the day and i really enjoyed it and the enhanced one is just as good in my opinion with a few extra characters and a few extra quests is always welcome in my opinion but if you prefer the original then this comes with a code so you can claim the original also
