A.D. 2044 (+Sołtys i Skaut Kwatermaster)

I've got this game from some sort of cheap holiday "mystery pack". I wan't my dollar back and this game removed - not hidden - from my library. Not happy.

There's nothing good about this game- not even the fact that it was free, because if I hadn't gotten it for free I wouldn't have played it, and that would be GREAT. The premise is borderline offensive to begin with- feminists decide to overthrow the patriarchy by becoming terrorists and nuking the entire world, wiping out most life on the planet, then ensure that males can no longer be born. Once the game has painted all women as complete monsters, it then has you, the last man on the planet, defeat your female jailers (though they are all, for reasons never explained, scantily-clad androids rather than human beings) by doing things like kissing them or releasing a mouse into their room, thus making them run and hide. The game is ugly not only in theme but also in graphics, with dull, industrial corridors and early CD-ROM era 3D models. The voice-acting sounds like it was run back and forth through Google translate 3 times, so even though they're speaking English, much of it just doesn't make any sense, giving the whole game a weird off-kilter feel. The gameplay is the absolute worst- the interface is simple enough, but to interact with anything you need to be in the exact right place at the exact right angle- which means that even if something you want to pick up is in plain view, you'll have to circle around the room ten times looking for the magic spot to click that will align you in such a way that you can actually see and click on the item. The actual puzzles are easy- all of the difficulty comes from struggling with the horrible navigation and pixel-hunting to find the one tiny spot that will allow you look under a table or behind a couch, even if searching those places was your intention from the start. The environment is random, clearly designed around the puzzles it had to house rather than any coherent logic, and the whole experience is a mess. Even if you got this game for free, just don't bother. It's absolute trash.

As a movie adaptation it fails quite badly, I still remember vaguely the dystopic movie from my childhood and it barely touches the source material. Lots of tiny pieces were used from the movie, but even more were left out. The robots you interact with (instead of people) are bizarre crash test dummies (that's the family friendly description). As a point and click adventure it is very tedious, I never knew whether I've found everything on the screen, it's real pixel hunting. Also all scenes have multiple camera angles and traversing between them is like riding the roller coaster. Many times it was difficult to find right camera angle (especially at a crucial point of the game). The character we play keeps giving us advice about where to look, which is a lazy way of the developers to get away the bad design. Still the hint system is not reliable and in the end I had to look up a walkthrough to understand what did I miss (I'm not proud just wanted to see what will happen in the end). There are also a couple of translation issues, but that's the least of the problems. All in all the gameplay is lacking, there is no atmosphere and it is easy to lose the will to see the story through. The controls are dizzying and confusing at best. The music is a generic soundtrack that adds nothing to the atmosphere (I turned it off after half an hour). The graphics are as expected from a nineties game. I do not suggest this game at all.

Pomysl zaczerpniety z Seksmisji. Sterowanie raczej do dupy, a i wprowadzenie kobiet cyborgow nie jest raczej na miejscu. Strasznie przydlugie wprowadzenie, majace raczej na celu przedstawienie aktualnych mozliwosci graficznych tamtych lat, a nie wprowadzenie i zaciekawienie gracza odnosnie gry. Dodatki dolaczone do tej gry daja wiele do zyczenia. Dla mnie osobiscie beznadziejne.

Gra ewidentnie nawiązuje do znanego filmu Pana Machulskiego "sexmisja". Więc co w AD 2044 jest ciekawego ?, nie wiele. Grafika jest zdecydowanie przestarzała, muzyka znacznie irytuje, a i sama fabuła raczej po seansie nie zapada w pamięć. Jedynie co właściwie zapamiętałem z tej gry to to że jest bardzo krótka. Można ją przejść w raptem 3-4 godziny. Osobiście ciężko mi polecić ową produkcję, nie zrobiła na mnie żadnego wrażenia, ale jeśli jesteś nerdem przygodówek, to myślę że na pewno gra przypadnie ci do gustu.
