On the quest to explore distant lands - indie RPGs that will make your heart race faster

One of the greatest things about gaming is that it can take you to distance, imaginative lands. Indie games are known for their unique stories and worlds, so we wanted to take a moment to talk about some of the indie titles that are part of the Indie Arena Booth Online, part of the digital Gamescom event that is currently underway.
For this article, we wanted to focus on some indie RPGs that will make your heart race faster with the epic adventures they offer. Whether it’s through gameplay or story, any of these games will definitely give you an adrenaline rush!

Nanotale - Typing Chronicles

This first game on the list might seem like a stretch, but just hear us out. In Nanotale - Typing Chronicles, you play a young archivist who must explore and catalog a dying world.
Because it is a typing game, this means you’ll spend a lot of time on your keyboard typing away. While that seems easy enough, you’ll oftentimes find yourself having to type quickly, where typos can be the difference between life and death.
With multiple enemies sometimes attacking you, you’ll need to decide on which ones to attack first, while trying not to miss any letters or hit the wrong ones. Miss a couple in a row and feel your heart rate climb!

Iron Danger

This title is a tactical combat title that lets players utilize time in a unique way that is sure to make each session an exhilarating one.
What really sets Iron Danger apart from other games is how it manages to blend real-time strategy and real-time action. In this title, you can control time, letting you rewind to five-seconds in the past. This means that regardless of the fight, if things go south, or you figure out a better way to do something, you can simply rewind and try again.
That includes death! If you die in a fight, the rewind mechanic can literally bring you back to try again, and that’s sure to keep you on the edge of your seat!

CrossCode

If you love the 16-bit art style and games that blend multiple genres, CrossCode is a fantastic experience.
It mixes traditional RPG stories and settings with MMO elements, engaging puzzles, and fast-paced battles. These fast-paced battles are extremely exciting and as you swing your weapons around at dizzying speeds, try not to let your excitement get the best of you, you’ll soon need to focus on the daunting dungeons and the puzzles within.
Adding even more to like about the game, the story is full of unique, lovable characters and enough twists to keep any gamer coming back.

Gamedec

Gameplay isn’t the only thing that can get your heart racing, an engrossing story where your every decision counts can have the same effect.
Gamedec is a non-combative isometric RPG that has you playing a detective in a virtual world. In this dystopian future, many people spend their time in these worlds, and just like the real world, there are sure to be some bad people.
The choices you make have meaning, and as you continue on your adventures, the game will continually adapt to your choices. If you think you have what it takes to solve the case at hand, Gamedec will keep you on your toes the entire time.
Some of gaming’s best moments come from when your heart starts beating a little faster and your palms get a little sweaty, and all of the games listed above are sure to accomplish that! Make sure to check them out at the Indie Arena Booth Online if they seem like your kind of games!
