Description

The entire Wasteland 3 experience in one colossal collection. In addition to the award-winning tactical RPG Wasteland 3, the Colorado Collection includes both The Battle of Steeltown and Cult of the Holy Detonation expansions, as well as the Colorado Survival Gear bonus items.

The Colorado Collection includes:
  • Wasteland 3
    • The award-winning sequel in the Wasteland franchise brings the Desert Rangers to the frozen wastes of Colorado to deal with gangs, cults, and psychopathic clowns in an effort to bring stability to one more frontier of the wastes.
  • The Battle of Steeltown
    • The manufacturing complex of Steeltown has ground to a halt, stopping deliveries of machines and robots needed for Colorado’s war efforts. It’s up to the Rangers to get the gears turning again, by any means necessary.
  • Cult of the Holy Detonation
    • Venture into the Cheyenne Mountain complex to take possession of a power source that could make Colorado Springs into an electrified utopia, or a smoking crater. It’s up to the Rangers how they’ll handle this radioactive situation.
  • Colorado Survival Gear
    • Start your adventures with a snow-themed set of bonus gear that’ll make your arrival in Colorado a tad smoother.

Stylish and fun Game made with love

I really enjoyed Wasteland 3. I should say, that I never really heard of the series before. Didn't even know the Wasteland 1 was the predecessor to the Fallout franchise. I got Wasteland 2 when GOG gave it away for free, but it lay untouched in my library until I saw Wasteland 3 promoted here on the site. Something about it's style made me curious and I bought it. Thus, I played W2 and W3 back to back and I had a great time. W3 is clearly a step up from it's predecessor. Sure, it has some shortcomings but overall the game is a great time and hole lot of fun. Some Pro's: * coherent and very likable setting/world * great voice acting * every spoken word is voice acted * rewarding combat * motivating character building * very cool style * lots of love for detail * some very funny moments (e.g. the Scottish guy, also the prisoner) * a lot of endings * strong player agenda with lots of freedom Some Cons: * the faces of the player characters just look sooo dumb * not enough portraits to choose from * never having the possibility to get a "perfect" solution gets a bit frustrating (this game is terrible for people with self-diagnosed OCD) * usability is clunky * new "game mechanics" in the DLCs are lame (I don't know why studios copy these from each other...) * there could have been more epic battles * because you generally are so free to do as you think, the few times you are railroaded feel especially bad * level scaling (I hate it) I can see why people are upset in regards to the money-grabbing moves of many of the publishers. Personally, I don't care for "deluxe" extras. As long as I have everything content-wise, I'm good.

Solid game, cant get the bad reviews

Im a huge fan of of turn based tactics game and rpgs. I played wasteland 2 and most of the falluot and inspired by games, most of the "balldures gate" kind of rpgs, x-com etc etc etc. My fav is still jugged alliance 2 modded 1.13 btw as turn based strategy game... This game is very good, it has a lot of quality of life imrpovements compared to the old titles, it has a very solid and rewarding turn based combat system, where tactics, positioning, wepaons type and weapons mods are key factors to win the battles. The story is very good, even if its quite short and mostly on rails compared to most of the others rpgs out there. Im not a huge fan of the "choice matters" kind of games, but this is one of those, where if you want you can replay the game picking different choices to see how things will go, still i dont like so much this system as i dont like to play doing choices i would not do just to check the results. The main critic i could tell about the game is that the game unlocks new weapons and armors with an "hidden" progression system, so tbh you really "see" those steps in the game and its not really realistic or welcome as immersion, and also it gives the idea that pushing fast is more rewarding that going at your own peace in the game. I dont have the dlc expansion, ive read it adds not much so i decided to skip it. Told that I surely liked this game a lot and i would really like to play more games like this. I consider this one by far better then Wasteland 2, even if this one is smaller as world and story.

Trying hard to fix what wasn't broken

I really like the concept of Wasteland games, but I am concerned about the direction in which the series is evolving. Some aspects are an improvement, like the controversial plot, the memorable music and the exceptionally good voice acting of some characters like McTavish, Payasos and many more. Supreme Jerk difficulty forces one to think and prepare, and resources are scarce, which makes the game feel balanced. The companions are underdeveloped, like usual. Why still require 2 custom rangers if there are enough companions to join you? The combat mechanic has been unnecessarily tinkered with. Strike meter versus aimed shot? The initiative has practically become obsolete since the turns are per squad, and no longer per character, which translates to losing directly on Supreme Jerk if you don’t attack first. You'll understand the ubiquitous complaints of gamers about min/max-ing the attributes once you play this game. We are two decades later, and I still feel that the original Fallouts (and Fallout Tactics) had the best character development system. Is it the new generation trying to fix things that weren’t broken while the veterans are sleeping? Design has a similar issue. The punk-style is sometimes so over-fantasized that even 8-year-olds don’t buy. But at the same time the target audience is PEGI +17. Special sound effects are probably the most bothersome I ever encountered in a game. Burning trashcans at 5 meter distance sound as if standing in the middle of an inferno, blasting my eardrums out. And the click-pop sound over at HQ armory and many other locations is just maddening. And then the worst part of it all: the DLCs. They introduce new gameplay elements and design choices that are not in line with the original, hence feel as if you are playing a new game within a game, completely breaking immersion and feeling like an endless chore just to "check" boxes. Make a separate mini-story like DA-O:Awakening if you must, but don’t break the existing game!

Nice Fallout-style RPG

Though the fact that player controls a squad of rangers might give an impression of this being a turn based tactics akin to Fallout Tactics or Jagged Alliance, the game is really an RPG. Structurally in that there is a lot of dialogue and Fallout-style questing, aside from combat, and mechanically in that combat involves substantial amount buffing, debuffing, triggering passives and using active skills, aside from just taking cover, sneaking and flanking. And shooting, of course, thought that too is prominent. As for game mechanics, my only major gripe is that there is noticeable power creep; as with many other games (Tyranny comes to mind), the game starts fairly challenging (on highest difficulty), but gets progressively easier and by the endgame the difficulty, or rather lack of it, becomes a bit disappointing. A lot could be written about user interface. It is not as though the game would be particularly difficult or pain to control, but for example there is no combat log, not even dialogue log, some UI elements are very small/quirky (like scroll bars), active skills are hidden in submenu, yet there is plenty of unused screen space everywhere, and at the same time the game can not display more than three responses in dialogue without scrolling and so on. Let's just say that having, presumably, more or less the same UI for PC and console version is not very clever. But, overall, after finishing the game (but not DCLs), I can say I enjoyed the game very much, often playing through night. Setting and plot/writing are donwright great, and I have to commend visuals and music as well.
