Excellent game marred by a high price
If you like Action RPGs, fast-paced combat (a loooot of combat), likeable characters, and sailing(world exploration)....this game is certainly for you. Unlike in previous Y's titles, the action is centered around two protagonists which can be hot-swapped mid-combat creating some rather unique combos. In addition, the characters can defend in duo mode allowing them to build multipliers for duo attacks via a revenge gauge mechanic. Combat is definitely the highlight here being both fun and constantly engaging The sound is as good as any other Y's game, but nothing really special by itself. The story...well, I won't spoil it. Just know that you do not have to play the previous titles to be able to enjoy this one. Now, there are some problems. The graphics are.......well....not even as good as Y's IX Monstrum Nox. It's a little bland to say the least. The sailing...while new and fun....is slow and can get monotonous. There is also ship combat which is probably the least fun part of the game. I think that may be because it's too realistic in how the ship maneuvers in relation to attacking. As for voice acting.....the lines are very few and far between outside combat. Other than those issues...it really is a decent title. However....NIS with this overpriced DLC nonsense really has to stop. A few costumes, a soundtrack, a digital artbook, and some items are certainly not worth anything near what is being charged. This kind of behavior is getting out of hand.
