Best Tactic game in the world
First Mission. Lost 4 of my 8 teammates. Second Mission. Lost another 4 of my teammates. Third Mission. Lost only one guy who forget to throw activated grenade. Best game ever. Im playing on the easiest difficulty :D

What is TFTD?
If you already played UFO: Enemy Unknown (X-Com: Ufo Defense) you may wonder what is the difference between this and TFTD. Well, there are three main things. First - in UFO:EU you fight with aliens. It's a typical men vs spacemen comic book. In TFTD it's basically X-Com v.s. Cthulhu. Second one - TFTD is designed to be much more atmospheric, with creepy looking arts and 1950s-style horror music. Third thing - TFTD is extremely buggy to the level you can "break" your entire playthrough just by making research in wrong order, or experience your soldiers losing all gear in mid-fight.

Great game - patch not include!!!
X-COM TFTD is great game, but GOG version is not properly patched to v2.1 despite its description. Thus you can't research magnetic navigation without Lobster Navigator. Also there is not possible to research Sonic Oscillator. This is reason why my review is so low. With proper patch this deserve 5 stars.

Love it!
This game gets some slack for being somewhat of a UFO defense reskin, but who cares!? Drastically different isn't always better, just look at Interceptor, The Bureau and Enforcer. Not every series or genre needs drastic shakeups to be worth your time and money. It's more of that first game goodness with nicer graphics and an equally cool premise. I absolutely love the idea of otherworldy horrors and aliens residing right next door to humanity in our oceans. It captures my imagination in a way few things do. As with the first game, buy this and immediately use OpenXcom to enjoy it.

Endgame is horribly unfair and buggy
I would recommend playing the original instead. The endgame is hard as hell for the worst reasons. Screw up a few missions and ypur rep will drop so low you won't have enough funding to carry on. Fail to capture specific aliens and technologies and you won't be able to construct the ship that can take you to the final boss. On top of that, research bugs might make it impossible to reach the end of the game at all. There was a tool for patching the research bug when it occurs, but the site where it was hosted seems to be net dead(correct me if I am wrong.). And you seriously need keep recruiting new blood to find high mental abilities on your soldiers lategame OR you will get totally wiped out by your own brainwashed/berserked troopers. But I guess the same is true for the original X-COM. Oh, and the game physics don't behave like it's underwater at all.
