Description

As if awakening from a deep sleep, you find yourself in a strange, contradictory world of ancient ruins and advanced technology. Tasked by your creator with solving a series of increasingly complex puzzles, you must decide whether to have faith or to ask the difficult questions: Who are you? What is your purpose? And what are you going to do about it?

Features:

  • Overcome more than 120 immersive puzzles in a stunning world.
  • Divert drones, manipulate laser beams and even replicate time to prove your worth - or to find a way out.
  • Explore a story about humanity, technology and civilization. Uncover clues, devise theories, and make up your own mind.
  • Choose your own path through the game's non-linear world, solving puzzles your way.
  • But remember: choices have consequences and somebody's always watching you.

Prototype DLC includes:
  • Prototype Levels - Includes more than 100 puzzles from early prototype development stage and 1 exclusive level from early beta version, not present in the final game.
  • Elohim Voice - US version - Elohim voice narrated by Serious Sam narrator Bill Jurney.
  • Elohim Voice - Writer's prototype - Elohim voice narrated by The Talos Principle's writer Jonas Kyratzes.

The Talos Principle: Road to Gehenna follows the narrative of Uriel, Elohim's messenger, as he explores a strange, hidden part of the simulation on a mission of mercy and redemption in an attempt to free the souls of the damned at all costs.
This substantial expansion consists of four episodes that take experienced players through some of the most advanced and challenging puzzles yet. The Talos Principle writers Tom Jubert and Jonas Kyratzes have returned to pen the expansion and show players an entirely different side of Elohim's world through a journey to Gehenna filled with new characters and a new society with its own history and philosophy.

The new Serious DLC replaces the godlike voice of Elohim with completely NEW, rewritten and humorous Serious Sam script.
Serious Sam voice has been recorded by longtime Serious Sam voice actor John J. Dick.
It also includes a new Serious Sam player model for use in The Talos Principle.

The Talos Principle - Bonus Content includes:

Documentary Video* - Making-Of The Talos Principle video featuring behind-the-scenes footage and exclusive developer interviews with Croteam members. This documentary takes a look at how the game was made.

Digital Terminal Booklet** - The digital terminal booklet contains over 100 pages of text found in game terminals.

Box Art** - Includes DVD label and DVD sleeve (front and back), so you can create your own retail The Talos Principle DVD box.

Wallpapers - Eight exclusive hi-res (1920x1080) images as wallpapers.

Posters, Stickers and Postcards - Three posters used at E3 2014 show, one sticker art for printing Talos related stickers on sticker paper and two postcards (two front and one back) used at Gamescom 2014 show.

* This item is only available in Croatian audio with English sub-titles

Very interesting game

I like puzzle games, but usually, over time, they become repetitive and boring. This was not the case with Thalos. The story just took me in. It has this philosophical layer, and it makes it very interesting. I highly recommend this game to everyone, whether you like puzzle games or not. It is an FPS puzzle game with a fascinating background story and soundtrack.

A game that will stay with you forever

Much has been written about the brilliancy of the puzzles, but I wanna talk about the artistic side of The Talos Principle. Specifically, I wanna write about the juxtaposition of the themes this games throws its arms around. There are two sides to this game; the religious treatment and the philosophical experience. Both are respectively symbolized and communicated to the player through a "higher voice" that questions your free will at every step and computer terminals that pound the significance of your being and actions. You see, both are at opposite ends of the spectrum but they discuss the very same thing; the meaning of your existence. The higher voice tells you what to do exactly to attain paradise while the terminals guide you to question everything around you to gain "independence" (i.e., individuality). These two sides of the same coin are spectacularly presented to you in a game with an atmosphere that feels extremely lonely and melancholic so the player has no other choice but to make the time spent on it personal and really give some thought to what's being preached at him. The guys at Croteam nailed every aspect to make this work; music, art direction, pacing, symbolism and gameplay. It is such a missed opportunity for somebody who hasn't played it, and it makes you wanna preach the game to anyone who will lend an ear. Unfortunately, the game does require a level of maturity to fully appreciate it that not every gamer has. If anyone at Croteam reads this, however unlikely that is, thank you for making such a great game.

Very atmospheric

I heard of "The Talos Principle" since its release. But i waited. Again, i was very surprised when this Game released here on gog - i couldn't resist and purchased the title. The game reminds me a bit on "Zork Nemesis" i played that game very often. But "Talos Principle" is a puzzle-adventure. I like the level where it was raining and sun-shining together. It feels very mystical to play the game. Sometimes i need help from the web, but it's good to play the game. It's not about shooting it's riddling ways out through the quests. And that makes fun. And i like the music while playing the game.

A Gamer's game - a must play on PC.

For fans of Valve's Portal games, the Talos Principle will scratch the same itch and then scratch it again - the first person perspective and in-game physics even provides an uncanny resemblance to the source engine. The game is beautifully crafted and simply a delight to explore at your own pace. This is further enhanced by the game's ambient soundtrack. The game slowly increases in difficulty as you progress and provides you with new 'tools' to solve the puzzles in a way that never feels too easy or hard for the most part. Of course, there are some very memorable puzzles that will feel impossible at first and when you eventually solve them it is very satisfying. There's also plenty of youtube videos that will help you if you get stuck. The game does have a philosophical storyline and the amount of effort you put into the is entirely up to you. However, to get the most out of it you do need to spend a lot of time reading texts found in terminals scattered throughout the levels. For what it's worth, I didn't put much effort into following the storyline but still felt satisfied with the ending. In terms of size, if you are a completionist you should get at least 25-30 hours out of the base game as there are 3 main zones to complete - each with multiple subzones. There's also heaps of hidden secrets and easter eggs which should appeal to those who like being rewarded for exploration. Despite this being fundamentally a puzzle game, I think it just has so much going for it that I wouldn't hesitate to call it a 'must play' for PC gamers.

Have it on Steam

I don't intend to buy it again on GOG, but just want to say if you really like Portal, then this is definitely for you.
