King of Fighters XIV offers an astonishing amount of content, with nearly double the playable characters of most other games available on day one. The fighters themselves are interesting and well designed, both visually and mechanically, and they push limits with an execution ceiling higher than perhaps any other fighting game. King of Fighters XIV’s netcode and technical shortcomings are itis biggest stumbling blocks, but mastering its characters and leveraging what you’ve learned remains satisfying regardless. There are no shortcuts to becoming the new King of Fighters, but the journey to the top is well worth taking.

Not compatible with my Arcade Stick
I have a Mayflash F300 Arcade stick that I use to play Street Fighter 4 and 5 with no issue. I try this game and the default controls are mind bogglingly bad, and for whatever reason, I am unable to remap all the buttons to what I want them to be. I'm pretty bummed because I've never played a KoF game, and the characters and mechanics seem cool. Maybe it's my arcade stick that's for some reason incompatible with this game, but the bottom line is: let me configure all my controls and don't map the start menu to one of the main buttons on my controller and then take away the ability to change it!

NOT recommended for anyone above 15!
Having enjoyed the old school Street Fighter / Mortal Kombat games, I was hoping for a modern take on the concept minus the over the top gore of MK franchise. Well, maybe there is actually a solid fighting game at the core of KOF. Sadly, I was not able to enjoy it because I couldn't get over how cheap the character design and animation feels. Especially the female "fighters" are just ridiculous. They're either completely annoying or trying so hard to be "sexy" that they move like they're not fighters but strippers instead. Even the idle poses (when you're not doing anything and your character should just keep some sort of fighting stance) are just WTF on so many of them (e.g. the devs weren't happy with just giving one of the characters huge boobs in a revealing outfit but her boobs also constantly SWING around on their own). I got this on a sale for less than 10 bucks and it still feels way overpriced - in fact, this is the second time I'm ever requesting a refund (with over 300 games in my library). Disappointing...
