A delightfully delicious serving of Tex

Never fear, Tex Murphy is back, like a favorite pair of well-worn shoes. A nicely polished user interface seems to be the only major change to the formula fans will remember; the wonderfully awful humor is still right on target and ever-present. Old fans of the Tex Murphy games are in for a treat, and newcomers who like their noir with a side of corn may well find themselves having a great time, too. Yes, Tex, that IS a ladder in my pants, but I'm also happy to see you again!

A game for fans old and new

This will not be a game for everyone but if you want a fun romp into adventuring with a B movie PI plot and some puzzles look no further. The performance of Chris Jones as Tex Murphy shines through despite some uneven acting from some of the cast. The feel of the old games is here with some new paint and I for one am happy to return to it. I hope it does well so we get more of these!

Brings the FMV genere to next level!

Tesla Effect has accomplished the mission its makers set out - it has brought the FMV gaming to a next level. The integration of gorgeously shot and directed video and Unity's 3D environments is just stunning! What immediately sticks out is that the game manages to strike a right balance between old and new. It has retained all the great elements of the old games but it also makes a nod to modern and more dumber audiences by giving more hints and clearer directions even in gamer mode. But it has all the nice things of the old adventure games like ability to click on everything and explore the environment with Tex giving his trademark witty comments in response. Even in the first minutes I was already chuckling and grinning because of the comments, the cultural references, the jokes. Visual side of the game is just beautiful. Even though the real time 3D world is not super detailed and high-res it still looks beautiful and never distracts from the immersion. The integration of all the elements of the game is well accomplished and it does indeed feel like you are playing a interactive noir movie. And this game just sucks you right in to its story. Honestly, at first I just thought in the evening I'd install it to see how it has turned out. The next thing I noticed was that it's already early hours of the next day and I still did not want to stop playing! No doubt it is one of the highlights of the year.

Tex is back, better than ever!

My first reaction to the intro-sequence was just: WOW! Like Tex is flying through a better "Blade Runner" Intro ... The Game makes you feel home. Not only that, you return to an improved, more modern,more convenient home. The humor, the graphics (while very much improved) and even the cast feels like good old family members have come by for a visit. Until now i have only played the Demo and my first two hours of the released game, but boy, i can tell you, it´s the best Tex ever! Nice: Tex remembers things from the old games (even Mean Streets and Martian Memorandum) and you´ll see Clips out of these fine Games. I really hope this game will be the start of at least a new trilogy of Tex Adventures. I´ll sure buy them all! Thanks, Tex, for making me feel a bit younger!

Wonderful!

I have to say this game is awesome. All I can say is that intro is simply stunning! What an entrance! Play it for the nostalgia, play it for the new groovy graphics, just play it and have lots of fun. Tex is back in a big way.
