System Shock® 2 (1999)

I came across this game a few months ago on tv i think it was. After awhile i decided to download it and i was blown away. This game is a must play for any gamer! Not only does it have story, but also great gameplay and sound. I finished it in about 12 hours of gameplay, so it's not too bad. There nothing more I can really say except to download now!

Irrational is truly known for great games...System shock 2 is definitely one of their best, it was very original and groundbreaking for its time. Still fun to play to this day. small part of the game lives on in games like Bioshock and Bioshock Infnite (in a smaller way)

Among all the games I played (and I have played a lot, being the sad b'''' that I am) this game is probably my favourite. It has a tight, claustrophobic and frightening atmosphere. It plays with the players fears and expectations and doesn't use cheap jump scares to do so. And finally, it is one of the few games that completely reward the player for both exploring every last bit of the game AND thinking about it. While I enjoyed both Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite, THIS is the game that I will always return to, if I want to get this special feeling only S.H.O.D.A.N. and THE MANY can give: Paranoid, sickening dread and desperation beyond rational. Truly a marvel of storytelling, atmosphere and depth.

I remember picking this game up in 2000 at a CompUSA bargain bin sale. It was probably $5 then and I still have the original disk (as well as SS 1). Let me tell you that System Shock changed the game and you can see it's influence on the Bioshock seried years later. I can honestly say that for the time, this game was scary and intense thanks to the sound and cryptic imagery. Dead Space is the only other space horror game that carries on that tradition in the same manner. I'm thankful GOG has included this and it's graphic enhancement packs. I'm back battling shodan for the first time in 13 years.

works perfect on modern machines :) totally lives up to the hype and momentum it got buy / play ... enjoy game mechanics are still fresh and the soundtrack ist 100% epic :3 (iam @ my 4th playthrough now :O )
