System Shock® 2 (1999)

While not the first of it's genre, it still is the mother of all survival horror games. A masterpiece that did everything just right. "When the history of my glory is written, your species shall only be a footnote to my magnificence." -SHODAN

My favorite game. Works perfectly on Linux. I am using wine and intel hd 3000.

The only fault this game has is that it's possible to create an unplayable character if you don't make wise choices when leveling. The atmosphere is great, and I believe this was the first game to employ spoken audio logs which really helps to sell the whole "on a ship with dead people" concept.

If you haven't picked up this game you owe it to yourself to even call yourself a gamer to pick up this amazing game and get yourself into one of the best original games ever made. I can make no other recommendation other than if you don't have it you are truly missing out on true joy

How many polygons does it take to both blow your mind and soil your undies? Precisely as many as found in this game. It's best played alone in a low lit room, to maximize the atmosphere and cut down the number of witnesses to your inevitable girlish screams. You can't call yourself a true PC gamer and not play this game.
