System Shock® 2 (1999)

I remember playing this game a lot when I first got it. I had never played the first one but I loved this one. I have played the game completely around 3 or 4 times. There is a graphics mod update somewhere out there as I remember playing with it years ago. I don't remember what it's called but it should be fairly simple to use google or some other search engine to find it.

After all these years the System Shock series is the best games around. The story, mechanics, characters, VO work, just everything in SS2 screams polish and love. Now we just need to get SS1 on GoG for the classics to truly find a home.

You will be amazed by the ideas and implementation that are in this game (1994) mind you. That are in games of today. Wrench vs Crowbar? Hacking Vending Machines? Your strength dictates how much you can carry? Thank you GOG for bringing this classic to us. F*@& EA GAMES

So great, in fact, that I can't even bring myself to moan about the $9.99 price. If you haven't played this before then you are really in for a treat - its a bit of a slow burner, mind, so be prepared to settle in for a good couple of hours on your first session. Better than Deus Ex. Which should be all the encouragement you need if you are still wavering.

System Shock 2 is like a fine wine. The older it is, the more you respect it. It has passed 14 years since its release back in 1999 and i still consider it as not just one of the best games, but The Best game i've ever played. There were other greats like Deus Ex, BioShock, STALKER, Half-Life, Unreal etc but they never quite reached that spectacularly morbid lonely cyberpunkish feel of the SS2 with so believable world that you felt like you're actually standing there with a wrench in your hand buying that snack bar on the vending machine and listening to the sounds of possible hybrids lurking around... I just want to thank again the GOG team and the Star Insurance Company for bringing it back to the gamers. It's really sad that Looking Glass is not with us anymore, but the teams which were developing this amazing game have to be at least a bit proud on this historical moment. I know i would be, if i was ever involved in a production of such majestic product.
