Complex, relentless and epic! Forget about the obsolete UI, fire up a Star Wars soundtrack and go conquer. Change the pace using Alt plus - / + , pause to strategise and issue orders for production and missions. Carriers with X-Wings/Tie Fighters rule the skies in large numbers - so get them first. Always sent Luke in missions with Han because Han has the fastest ship out there. Spy a lot :) Started a new campaign with Alliance and got lucky; destroyed 2 Imperial destroyers and two transports using Luke, Han and Chewbacca by day 90. Good times ... so what are you waiting for?

Upside down graphics, and you still can't skip that annoying briefing in the beginning. Great game, but this version is not worth the 5.99 imo. It still needs some work adapting to newer systems.

This game feels very "star-wars"-authentic. They don't really make them like this anymore. It's a bit old but definitely worth playing now.

This game is just awesome, but I played it on Windows 8 and the pictures look upside down. It's sad to see such a gem receiving bad reviews because of this problem.

For the review, this is one of those games that doesn't seem like it will be much fun, but six hours later you're still thinking, "OK, I'll just capture that planet and I'll go to bed." It uses space combat, ground combat, espionage, and diplomacy in the best mix of any game that I've ever played. Only espionage is optional -- you can't just brute force your way to victory. Gameplay has stood the test of time, even though the visuals are very dated and the controls are awkward for this era. On Windows 10 running as a non-privileged user, I did not have to do anything to get the graphics to work. If you have graphics issues, run in Windows 95 compatibility mode. You do not need to run as administrator. If you are suffering frequent crashes, it's because this game was never tested on multi-CPU/core systems. While Rebellion is running, ALT-TAB to the desktop. Bring up Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL if you are running as an admin, otherwise press the Windows key, then type 'taskmgr.exe', right-click it in search results, then click "Run As Administrator). Find REBEXE.EXE on the Details tab. Right-click it and click "Set Affinity". In the dialog, uncheck <All Processors>, then check only CPU 0. OK all the way out, then switch back to Rebellion.
