It is worth trying out.
This game is something that you dont really see much. I mean, not often you see games setting such phylosophycal questions about what is real, and is AI alive. The devs also made a great atmosphere, of it all being so down and misreble. It was surely worth playing.

What it means to be human?
This game, with it's amazing fascinating story, has managed to give me a horrific feeling. The set-up for the game is creepy and original, you go trough multiple sites on the bottom of the ocean trying to save what remained of humanity. The monsters, gosh, horrible and disturbing, fit for the horror genre. However it's not just the monsters and the tension when they are chasing you, the story is, somehow unpleasant but captivating. I recommend giving this a try, even if you are not a fan of horror games, this one gives you a "safe" difficulty, making the monsters harmless, yet still creepy.

Great ambiance--and on Linux!
The first half-hour of this game is absolutely unforgettable. I was delighted to find myself in an apartment in Toronto, digging through cupboards looking for my meds. As the story unfolds, and the uncomfortable tension gave way to well-exectued horror--well, this game scared me like I haven't been scared by a game since, let's say, XCom circa 1992. Kudos! I love that the player uses brains rather than brawn to sequence through the story. The puzzles are well done and the ambiance is fabulous. It's not perfect: sometimes the "sneak and run" mechanic gets a bit tired, and the voice acting leaves things to be desired. The undersea setting occasionally feels a bit like a Bioshock re-run. But at the end of the day, this is a great experience from a cool company--and it even runs on Linux! Thanks guys!

The imagination of some people
So I got this game for free and did not have any expectations. I avoid horror games in general. I was just going to give it a go thinking I can quit it got to scary. But the story and surroundings just kept pulling me forward. It is quite a uniqe story and one I have not experienced before. The story is told through small notes and audio clips. You really get what has happend. The monsters are really just in the background and not really hard to deal with. I would say more they are there to increase your stress level a bit (it worked). The main character is really good. The voice acting is pleasant and you can really feel for his situation. Playing without any trophies also was nice and let me focus on just the story and progressing. It's quite linear. All in all a short game, recommend getting it on sale. Kudos to the creators. This was a uniqe experience.

Simply Amazing
Horror games are not my forte. Usually only the first encounter would be scary, and any consequence encounter would be frustrating. This holds true if you need to solve puzzle while avoiding monsters at the same time. Usually this breaks the pace for me and I ended up putting the game on the back burner. Which is what I did to this game at first. However, the developer adds "safe mode" which is perfect for a guy like me. The storyline in this game is amazing enough to hold on its own. Many people bashed the developer for putting in such mode, but they don't realize that this opens up possibility for other players to enjoy this game without being frustrated by the horror element of the game. Much can't be said without spoiling the content of the game, other than the facts that this game has amazing atmospheric and thought-provoking world built around several philosophies about human nature. The puzzle can be infuriating sometimes, but never enough to detract you from the main experience. Last but not least, well done Frictional Games. This game didn't get enough recognition that it deserved.
