Nice game with some flaws

Just played the game through and quite satisfied with it. It is a mix of a shooter and a stealth. First, I was trying to play it completely as stealth, but no way. One have to take it as a mix of both genres, then it will make a lot of fun. The gameplay runs also in realtime without a possibility to stop the time. Still you have a lot of possibilities to play it tactically, hacking the right cameras or shorting security systems. So you will have to analyze the areas of the missions and think before you move on. Without that, the game will be much more complicated, probably even impossible. Again, this is not a shooter, nor is it pure tactical turn based game. It has beautiful graphics and nice adaptive soundtrack, which depends on the danger level. The cyberpunk environment is very nice, since you play in one big world, there are also no loading screens, spoiling the atmosphere. However the game loading screen takes its time. Especially in the beginning I found it annoying, because I was trying to play stealth and reloaded the game on every alarm. Combined with inability to save during the mission this can be very frustrating. Don't do it. The bad thing about the game is AI. Well, it is kind of ok, but very unnatural. If the enemies see you, they will start to shoot, if you have a gun in the hand. But in most cases, they "arrest" you in the private property and just convoy you out to the street. That's all. Sometimes you can even kill someone and put away the gun, the enemies will just say: "Oh, ok, suspect surrendered". And no consequences. This spoiled the atmosphere for me quite a lot. And the last word, if you like to play a good guy, this is not a game for you. Here you are playing a group of killers. You get payed for that and can buy new guns and other equipment. If you are not ok with that, don't buy it. However, everybody, who can distinguish a real world from a game, go on.

Good but kindy clunky

It is a great RTS, but in the beginning you will be forced to do stealth because you are so weak. Power ramps up massively with time, making missions very viable too. Also a think to consider is that the interface can be very clunky. It's an RTS without a real attack stance, only attack move that only really works if you massively overpower the enemy and have enough slaves because it moves you out of cover. You can queue up targets with shift, you should definitely do this or fights can get a bit tedious.

Really nice game

I had a blast with my friends in LAN. Sure, you are all the time yelling at them for getting caught. Then, you are being shot to pieces because you yourself botched the job. It's not perfect, but if you like to play in coop with your friends, try it. Pros: -Nice, "syndicate" athmosphere -good blend of stealth tactics & shooting, although I miss the impact of gauss cannons & miniguns in the original -decent background story Cons: -No missions/world conquest like in the original. You have an "open city" in which you can move freely. While that is not necessarily bad, it takes away the feeling of "world domination". -class choices are restricted. You always have to play with exactly one soldier, support, hacker, assassin. -brute force gameplay is not as fun as it used to be -story could be a bit fleshed out, but is ok Overall, nice sequel to syndicate, looking forward to more!

worth getting

nice and catching game, having more fun in it that i would have thought possible, small problems with the controls, like you zoom in very close and the scrolling feels to fast. other than that solid game, really enjoying it.

An interestingly boring game

Disclaimer: I speak based only on multiplayer experience and I own this game on GOG. Review: An interesting game, not fun, but interesting. First let me say, that if you expect any kind of a story, forget it. You get an introductory video at the beginning of the game, but only in single player. The game tries to support both combat based and stealth based gameplay, but combat in the game is actually implemented in such a way, that your group has almost very limited chance to win any prolonged encounters. In the end, it just feels like a waste of time. On the other hand, a stealth approach seems like the way to go, but it is so janky, that it will result in many cries of frustration during your game time. The developers tried to provide four traditional cyberpunk classes, which do feel distinct the first time you get your hands on them. But after a while, you will find out, that the soldier is useless, the support is boring and useless at the same, the hacker is a fun skill mule and the infiltrator is your best way to solve any mission. The developers force you to bring your soldier and support with you to the target, since some missions require them to be present, but it is often much easier to leave them both standing outside of the enemy base and ignore them. Later on in the game, you get your hands on equipment for your characters, which allows them to use the skills of other classes, and at that moment the distinction between classes disappears and you will ask yourself, why did the developers even bothered to implement any classes anyway. Lastly, the game was incredibly laggy if you are not the multiplayer host. Characters keep teleporting and stuck in geometry. In the last bossfight, my character got stuck forever in void below the map. I gave up and let my friends finish the game, while I drank tea. And at that moment I've had the most fun with the game in all 18 hours we've played it. Summary: An interesting game concept. Not much else.
