Satellite Reign

I knew I was going to enjoy a real time, futuristic, squad based game but this is better than I expected. Nicely sized hubs with multiple objectives. Multiple approches to each objective. Lots of abilities to equip each of the classes with. Good controls, visuals and sound. The strory so far is your usual bring-down-the-evil-corp but whatever. Game is great.

The game is really, really clunky and a little buggy at times. It's alright if you buy on a sale.

I've finished it just now. The city is giant and open. The way to do missions is your choice, almost without limits. I've missed few things, because RTS style games are not my choice, but it's not a handicap. RPG elements are enough to got the feeling without loosing in stadistics. The history is too classic for the genre, nothing about a heavy trama. And no bugs to me, except in the final level, where the enemies has trespassed a few walls a couple of times. Well, I could point a few minor negative things, but nothing serious, and the general taste of the game has been really fun and envolving to me. I'm pretty sure this game will be a gem in the next 10 years or less. Enjoy.

I tried playing Syndicate for the first time back in 201X and it aged so poorly as to be inaccessible, so I was excited to dive into its updated successor in Satellite Reign. I highly recommend it. The design is brilliant and neon, becoming a futuristic world you want to explore. The game play is also top notch and makes exploring the world fun. I approached missions with a stealth strategy so I ended up taking my time in the shadows watching patrol routes and timing my moves. I was always eager for the chance to try my tactics in a new complex. For some this may seem repetitive, but I enjoyed having more of a good thing. The game is also very well paced. Early in the game I had performed a number of heists in a sprawling, heavily patrolled complex only to discover that I had to return to that complex to advance to the next quadrant. I was hesitant to revisit this secure complex but by the end of the second quadrant I was looking forward to new and familiar challenges as the game built my confidence in my tactics. No matter how confident you are, you'll be on the edge of your seat whenever a patrol comes close to your hiding spot and until you get your last agent safely outside the complex to complete a mission. Even with the endgame weapons, gear, and abilities you'll be challenged, as a full frontal assault on most complexes will be quickly overwhelmed by enemy units. The loading times for Satellite Reign are a bit long, but once loaded you can go anywhere in the world. The enemy AI could have been a bit better as enemies could be assassinated steps behind fellow enemies without raising any alarms. The stealth kills were also a bit fidgety as your victim would walk away from your agent leaving him exposed and out of cover. More than once my agents got caught in the environment leaving them unable to move and get to safety. None of these issues held Satellite Reign back much making it a near perfect experience.

Just played the game through and quite satisfied with it. It is a mix of a shooter and a stealth. First, I was trying to play it completely as stealth, but no way. One have to take it as a mix of both genres, then it will make a lot of fun. The gameplay runs also in realtime without a possibility to stop the time. Still you have a lot of possibilities to play it tactically, hacking the right cameras or shorting security systems. So you will have to analyze the areas of the missions and think before you move on. Without that, the game will be much more complicated, probably even impossible. Again, this is not a shooter, nor is it pure tactical turn based game. It has beautiful graphics and nice adaptive soundtrack, which depends on the danger level. The cyberpunk environment is very nice, since you play in one big world, there are also no loading screens, spoiling the atmosphere. However the game loading screen takes its time. Especially in the beginning I found it annoying, because I was trying to play stealth and reloaded the game on every alarm. Combined with inability to save during the mission this can be very frustrating. Don't do it. The bad thing about the game is AI. Well, it is kind of ok, but very unnatural. If the enemies see you, they will start to shoot, if you have a gun in the hand. But in most cases, they "arrest" you in the private property and just convoy you out to the street. That's all. Sometimes you can even kill someone and put away the gun, the enemies will just say: "Oh, ok, suspect surrendered". And no consequences. This spoiled the atmosphere for me quite a lot. And the last word, if you like to play a good guy, this is not a game for you. Here you are playing a group of killers. You get payed for that and can buy new guns and other equipment. If you are not ok with that, don't buy it. However, everybody, who can distinguish a real world from a game, go on.
