Just totally out of this world
Recently bought this as I was feeling nostalgic - next thing I know its 1am. Im not normally one to bother writing reviews, but I am so compelled to write this - If you have never played this game, buy it now and play it. Make it one of the things you MUST do before you die. This game is for anyone and everyone and I will bet anyone in the world £1000 that they wont be able to pull themselves away from it.

An amazing classic
Having played all 3 in the series I definitely have the fondest memories of this one. Sure 2 and 3 offered more bobs and whistles but there was just something about the first that kept my attention for weeks on end. I remember taking fores frontiers and just filling it to the brim with rides turning it into the best park I could then every so often shutting down the park and starting again using the funds I earned. I don't think I ever beat all the scenarios, but there were a lot there and each created a unique challenge that sometimes took some planning but was always doable. I definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to build a theme park or you just enjoy building game play and are looking for something different than a city builder.

Brings back memories
One of the first tycoon games I've played: cool graphics for its times, very high fun factor and what was the most important feature: the ability to build your own rides. Thank you GOG.com for converting this game to Win7 (works perfectly even with 64bit version). I missed this game :)

Awesome game
RCT was one of my favorite games when it was released over a decade ago. It has aged very well - the gameplay is still as fun and enjoyable as ever, and the graphics are still very reasonable. The game includes both expansion packs, and is overall just a blast. The tutorial quickly brings new users up to speed, and it's probably not necessary to read the manual for anything other than the most complex parts of the game (like building custom rollercoasters or putting stuff underground). In particular, the Loopy Landscape scenarios are probably the best ones of the 3 sets - its objectives are more creative and interesting (whereas the previous 2 sets are mostly just "Have X guests by year Y"). The Loopy Landscape scenarios also don't impose or force time constraints (so you don't have to watch your park on auto-run while you wait out the remaining 2 years or whatever). My only complaint is that rollercoasters can fail with no fault on my part. For instance, certain failure cases (e.g. station break failure) will essentially just happen and is not preventable. You just have to save every few minutes and restart if it happens (or deal with the aftermath). Granted, perhaps this is true in real life as well -- even the best parks have accidents every now and then, but I don't think including this "feature" adds value to the game. Overall, an awesome game :)
