Description
You regain consciousness and the unfamiliar faces surrounding you inform you that you've lost your ship in an unfortunate accident. The cutthroat world of the Tri-System privateers greets you with a clenched fist and a knife pointed at your back. Your only order of business is survival. You've got just enough credits to afford something resembling a new ship. It takes more than just a bucket of bolts to make it in this world; you'll need upgrades, and most important of all: money. The sector is brimming with "business" opportunities, but who can you trust? Legal or not, it's time to trade, travel, and battle your way through a place where high risk equals high reward and only those with the brass reap the rewards.
Privateer 2: The Darkening is the premier open universe space trading and combat sim. Blaze your own path through the Tri-System by either hook or crook. Aww yeah
This is the game I've been hoping to see added ever since I joined GoG. I still have the originals around somewhere (but disc 2 got damaged beyond use)... it's wonderful to finally get a working version again. Can't wait to wake up in that hospital again.

Incredibly fun, but also kinda broken.
It's an amazing game - I'll let others wax lyrical about that. My problem is this: I have both the Dos(box) and Windows 95 originals, and I've never managed to complete either as they both become a crash-fest around halfway through the story. I'll try the GoG version too, and pray it somehow doesn't suffer the same issue.

Horrible gameplay
Can't kill any ship even with the 3k laser gun,impossible. Their shields just fill up as quick as you put in a few shots. No save game function. No quit function,I have to shutdown my PC to shut down the game. Just awful. The movie parts are fun like a b grade sci fi and i love the music but gameplay,awful.

Bad game
Very bad game thriving on its glorious predecessor ! - Videos are bad, probably shot on LSD. - The stage sets, costumes and green screen chroma keys are cheap compared to other games of the era like Wing Commander 3 and 4. - Script is very bad with very poor writing and at the end you are like "WTF ?! That's all ?", same level as BSG or Lost finals ! - The final boss, rofl, what is he holding ? Who thought that would be cool ? - AI is bad and i mean it ! Try it ! Set throttle to zero during a dogfight with a pack of enemies and go AFK 10 mins, then come back and check ! Probably safer than trying to fight them off ! - Privateer ? Why ? This ... thing ... as nothing to do with Wing Commander : Privateer, pure commercial trap.
