Same great platforming, overrated combat
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time was universally praised for its incredibly tight atmosphere, with most criticisms centring on its simplistic combat system that could often lead to long, drawn out encounters toward the game's conclusion. The core platforming here remains the same, though the game adds a slight metroid flavour this time around, with lots of backtracking as the prince gains new abilities and opens up new areas. Where the game falls apart is the combat system. Frequently praised as an improvement over SoT's combat, the reality is that WW's combat is far, far worse: Warrior Within gives us essentially the same combat system as before, but rather than giving us two or three simple combos, we get page after page of combo, most of which players will never perform due to how awfully clunky and unresponsive button inputs are. If you've ever played a game with a competent combat system (Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta, God of War), WW's combat will only frustrate you: there's no flow, no feeling of impact. And in a game that features such a huge amount of combat, it's a major flaw.

Crappy port
You're better off emulating the ps2 version, this one got a lot of audio glitches that harm the experience. It's a great game, but gets boring without the music.

Best Prince of Persia game
Music is greatly undervalued in games. When the series took this darker turn, was when I realised games could convey story just as good as, if not better than, movies. It could've been a mistake. It could've been shallow and filled with meaningless gore. But the soundtrack had the heaviness to give the whole experience an action movie feel (like 300, Gladiator and similar movies) without being so metal-driven as to scare players away. The 2 things I'll always remember is the first time the menu started up (Wow!) and the first boss fight. In my opinion no game has blended tight controls and musical theme this well.

The POP that dissappointed
I have conflicting feelings about this game. This seems like a game that I should get into, as it has all the hallmarks of games in the past I have loved, that being games with fantastic gameplay and a dark story and setting, but I just could not get into it. Let me just say that the gameplay is phenomenal and a huge step-up from Sands of Time. More acrobatic moves and combos make combat a joy instead of tedious. The platforming (as it should) is intact and well-implemented. The bads mostly stem from game design. The dark tone and story would normally be given a plus from me, but considering how much I liked the prince's character in the last game, it made him just unlikeable in my eyes, as he went from being humorous and light-hearted to very serious. Actually, I didn't like any of the characters in this game. None of them had any quirks or moments that made me warm to them. Although, considering there are only 4 of them, I wouldn't call it too much of an issue. Ultimately, I just found the game boring. The game constantly makes you backtrack to closed-in areas since it only takes place in a single castle, and the confined level design, familiarity, and drab colors made it boring to explore, a far cry from the other two, which felt like going on a journey rather than a walk through a neighborhood. I would still recommend this game because of the gameplay, but it's not the best one in the series as far as I'm concerned.
