Great story and atmosphere!
This is not a typical adventure game: There are hardly any puzzles. But "Overclocked" is a great story-game with good characters and a thrilling storyline. I enjoyed every second of it! Sadly, House of Tales doesn't exist anymore...

Top-notch story writing
If you like well written psychological mystery adventures this is exactly what to get. All the characters are very interesting and the acting is amazing. The graphics look still good and the music is also very nice. It is just a well made game. There are some easy puzzles here and there but the main theme of the game is the psychological study of a sick mind.

Bit predictable
It's a pretty predictable story, especially if you've played a few adventure games. It's not bad, but nothing superlative either. Mechanics are okay. What is annoying is the UI and search for appropriate passages on the PDA to play back. You can skip the text sequences, since they're repetitions from flashbacks and still get a confirming suggestion from main character that that was the correct one. It's a nice touch how unfair the treatment towards the main character is. There are some plot holes, and more work could have been done in all areas, but overall it's a pleasent experience.

Underrated
An actually great underrated point & click, and probably the best game by House of Tales, also developers of The Mystery of the Druids and The Moment of Silence (and 15 Days, which I have yet to play). It somehow feels smaller and lower budget compared to The Moment of Silence, with fewer set pieces and a smaller scope (also buggier, save often!), but its clear and more focused design, along with the honestly much more interesting and down-to-earth story, made it a stronger experience. It's also a much darker and more depressing game overall, while still being very human. Like others have mentioned, the core gameplay has you going back and forth between cells, recording sessions and playing them back to other patients to trigger memories. Unlike what some reviewers say, it's not just guesswork. You must play what is related to the story each character is telling, and most of the time it's actually quite obvious, unless you haven't played for some time and forgot what you were doing. The puzzle elements are mostly light, but not to the point of those braindead interactive fiction games that have you walking forward and doing QTEs. I honestly think this "middle ground" approach works extremely well for what they wanted to do. The gameplay complements the story instead of detracting from it or serving just as an excuse to have the player press buttons. I really don't want to oversell it, it's a game that clearly has its problems, and yet I'm not going to lie, it's easily one of my favorite stories in point & click games.

Trauma in the Rain
Overclocked approaches violence from the inside rather than through action. Five young adults in shock, one military-trained psychiatrist, and a stormy New York that feels like it’s caving in — the premise is strong, and the story develops with a dark, steady pull. Sessions between doctor and patient reveal the past through memory flashbacks, and this structure is where the game shines. When the first recovered memory triggers, the tone shifts, and it becomes a thoughtful psychological thriller rather than a typical adventure. The weaknesses are technical and mechanical. The 3D graphics have aged poorly, character faces can be unsettling, and navigating environments feels slow and rigid. Puzzles and inventory use are logical yet rarely inventive, and the linear structure limits experimentation. Still, once the narrative finds its rhythm, it becomes absorbing. Overclocked lingers more for its tone and introspection than for its gameplay. If you value psychological writing over mechanical elegance, it is well worth a visit — even if time has overtaken its multimedia shell.
