I played this game on the phone but got second copy on Steam. OPUS:RoW is very climatic story. Two heroes and world after a collapse. While you venture further out you also get to know the past, personal stories and help those long gone. Gameplay is simple - each morning you are going out scavenging for parts and other nescessary items, forced to return by a nightfall or with precious find. Day after day, strugling to finish the rocked and finaly get rid of the ghosts that hunts you. But behind it is a tale much deeper and to this quest there is more than meets the eye.
I highly recomend this game. I replay it from time to time and every time it is and great experience. Like reading a good book.
I knew this game was supposed to be bigger than the prior one (both in length and gameplay), and it is. Yet, I also got too bored with this game to continue. The game mostly sees you control a character from a top-down perspective and try to scavenge for parts needed to build a rocket before the day ends. Once you've found the parts, you are then allowed to end the day, return to camp with the parts you found, and assuming you have everything, tell your builder to start building the rocket part. Constructing each part takes 1 day, so the part won't be finished until you end another day. The first issue that arose for me was that it's difficult to tell what's terrain you can walk on and what terrain is impassible. At one point, your character constructs a tool for cutting fences and other things. Yet, not every fence can be cut for some reason. The scavenging part is also tedious because anytime you pick up a new item you haven't collected before (which happens a lot), the game has to go into the inventory menu, scroll to the previously blacked out item, illuminate the item, and then give you some flavor text to read. I suppose this was their was of telling the narrative, but since it happens so often, it just gets annoying. There also isn't really a map. You eventually unlock very few fast travel points, but there's nothing to really help guide you back to places you previously were. And since the small area you constantly retread is just ruined snowscape from a top-down perspective, it gets annoying trying to find your way back to some spot you were at the other day. Also, anytime you start the day or stumble upon a side quest (all of which are fetch quests made all the more annoying by the aforementioned navigation problems), the game opens a menu which you cannot leave until you basically select the quest you want to pursue (there's no Exit button you can click). In short, got bored and gave up
Charming little gem that could use a sequel or reboot.
As in; investment, more depth, more dialogue, areas etc.
Definitely has the potential to be a modern classic.
Cute, adorable and filled with emotions.
