Single player mode not that optimal

No question, this is a really great game. It is relatively easy to pick up and understand you can play it with friends it has different bioms. It is a joy when you progress and your infrastructure and its vehicles develop. And you can have a relatively relaxed gaming experience if you want and the jazzy music supports it very well. And one of the best things is its ability to run on low resources. You can run it on an old laptop and enjoy widescreen of your television.... furthermore it is open source and there are many ways to support the developers. The one minor flaw is if you are more singleplayer type of person, than you probably miss one major feature other similar games have (Roller Coaster Tycoon, Airline Tycoon, Railroad Tycoon II) which is that in OpenTTD has unfortunately no campaigns/scenarios where you have some kind a story or can test your skills as in the games mentioned before. Thus, if you search for some kind of competitiveness you have to go multiplayer. This flaw is not a big problem, because there is a lot to discover. But after playing for some hours. It is in my opinion unlikely to start over again from the beginning. If you search for something new you probably stick with your savegame and look for further technologies on the market new vehicles... or you go multiplayer. But the singleplayer replay ability is rather low.

Headache machine

This game gave me a splitting headache first time I seriously played it. Now I "got" most of the features and the gameplay is smooth with little hiccups(other than national tragedies due to mismanaging signals). The game is just about being a transportation tycoon, it's a basic premise and the game does it well. There are some shortcomings such as the features are VERY poorly explained in-game and guides open in the background are a must. Also, the immersion could be a bit better, as towns branch out their roads in the most demented of ways and interaction with towns really feels like it was designed in the 1990s. Multiplayer is about 1000x more fun than any other game I played. I played terraria, minecraft, doom, keywe(don't judge), dungeon keeper 2 and many others but the multiplayer experience here is just way more fun. Probably because there's little in this game to rage about other than the obscure mechanics, but it's a blast leading a corporation together. Give it a try, it's free.

Timeless gem

Starting of the OTTD project, created a new era of Chris Sawyer's TT. Biggest asset it is given by multiplayer option, while additional graphs,maps, brings some extra flavor to the game. To conclude, this game never gets old, and looking across the years of the servers + people that are active at any point in time, it's telling a lot about a game concept that will be 28 yo in 2022.

Back in the days

When I was a kid I played the TT (original) demo on my neighbors computer, and since we were only allowed to build rails in the demo and the AI was building cars we swore that once we got the full version, we would build ONLY cars! And we did. Fast forward 25 years later and we're still playing this game, but we have since forgiven the AI for using cars when we couldn't, and are now building rails. I'm sure that if you come to this game having never played the original or anything else from the era, the user experience can be a bit finnicky and annoying, but I would say give it a chance. Play it for a couple of hours and if it turns out to be your cup of tea, you will never stop.

Old game but stands test of time

There are a lot of old gamers who still refer back this gem of a game. It’s pretty reliable, simple enough to get started and then the fun and challenge begins when you have multi-train tracks and managing a variety of transport systems. It’s fun, although slow paced at times, but that shouldn’t stop you. It’s often held in high regard as one of the best management games. Don’t worry about the dated graphics, it’s the quality of management that makes this game. Oh plus those groovy little jazz tunes too!
