Caster of Magic started out as a mod, championed by Seravy and building on top of the already popular community patch. Caster of Magic has been a fan favorite of the Master of Magic community and we are pleased to be able to work with Seravy to officially integrate Caster of Magic, giving him the recognition he deserves.

Thanks for that DLC. It made the original game even better. It’s not true that the AI is too strong and everyone is attacking me. The DLC was very excellent. I think.
I've spent 100 hours on this mod and i don't remember how many years on the classic MOM, since its original release. Along the years i've played many MOM clones and i can say that none has even come close to the original, not to mention Casters of Magic.
I don't consider it a mod, in my opinion it is a literally a superb and true "MOM Remastered", maybe without them wanting to create anything else but a mod.
Why did i try MOM clones? Well the original game had its flaws, bugs, crashes, low intelect AI, etc.
But all the clones did was to address completely different topics, like graphics, music, portraits and so on.
Like anyone who likes MOM really cares about that? I for one don't.
And now after 25 years, it happened. Same nostalgic DOS graphic, same music, same superb atmosphere, but with no bugs, no crashes, new redisigned map RNG, challenging AI and very hard monsters even on low difficulty, new spells, etc. Do you know how you can beat a Tower of Wizardry to get from Myrran to Arcanus wen its guarded by 5 Great Drakes and 4 Efferets? Well do what i did - New Game.
I don't even know how the devs managed to fix the crashes and the mechanics of some spells like casting Armaggedon on a city. In the original game 50% of the time the game would crash.
I couldn't help but notice some players are not satisfied with the new features. Well there have been some heavy modifications to the Custom Wizard's perks. Myrran for example now costs 1 point instead of 3. Starting with normal difficulty, the AI can create Custom Wizards aswell and you can find yourself fighting against other Myrran. Not a problem in my opinion, it makes the game a lot more challenging.
Even on Fair difficulty where the AI cannot build Custom Wizards, by the time you get out from Myrran you will find yourself in a world of pain as the AI probably will be fully developed in terms of army and spell research and it will punish you until you quit.
This is still the best 4X game i've ever played.
A very impressive patch. A lot of work in it, hours, months, years.... For a smal fee, you get a Masterpiece in your pocket.
