What the hell?

This game is veeery short, I just played it in one go and it took me 6 hours. I didn't run through the game, I looked at everything there was etc. There is a longer part in the game where you're relatively passive and mostly reiterate the story without new revelations. I didn't like that. Besides that, this game is genius, so much detail, such an interesting story, german soldiers who actually speak german, great italian voices, gruesome story, fucked up but human motives and very detailled world. You run around in ego perspective, find items, do stuff with items, overall you don't have many choices, so I see it more like a visual novel. Why only 4 stars? - I think one choice changes the outcome of the game a bit, but overall I think the replayability is quite low - The performance is really bad. I got an RTX 3080TI, turned off the RTX and it still stutters a lot. What hardware do I need to run this game in 60fps? This can be fixed with further patches though - Links to replayability, but due to its shortness I'd love to have more bonuses, hidden rooms with extra lore which are really optional. Maybe I missed something, but I tend to look at everything and interact with everything. For the current price I'd recommend to BUY IT! It's a unique experience and you'll see stuff you won't forget. (This game deals with war, mental health issues, murder and all sorts of disturbing imagery, you have been warned)

SHORT, ERRATIC AND DISTURBING JOURNEY

Don't expect a horror game, it's a mixture of different simulators with a creepy premise. It includes: - Countryside simulator: ✓ - Walking and running simulator: ✓ - Photography simulator: ✓ - Puppeteer simulator: ✓ - Tarot reader simulator: ✓ - Telegraph simulator: ✓ - Bicycle and boat simulators: ✓ I would urge the devs to eliminate all "running scared" scenes (especially the ones with words in them) cause they don't add anything at all to an otherwise serious, deeply disturbing tale. Get rid of these fake Alan Wake sentences, and the silly Lady in the lake scares, cause the core of the plot is much more important and disturbing than any horror nonsense. Devs could have created a really memorable mixture of WWII and psychological insanity by relying on the strong aspects of their plot: child abuse, insanity, violence, war, vengeance. Instead, they wanted to explain: - A half-arsed war story - A half-arsed family drama - A half-arsed ghost story - A half-arsed tarot reader story - A half-arsed love story - A half-arsed asylum story It's way too much. By the end, none of the simulators nor none of the stories seems developed enough to make an impression. On the bright side, each and every one of these ideas, stories and simulators is really interesting and fun. I would love for the devs to develop in depth seven different stories and games instead of this convoluted mess. As it stands, "Martha is dead" doesn't scare much, in spite of all the gorey scenes that never stroke me as crucial to the plot. I'll play more games by you, LKA. But you can still fix this one! It shows so much promise and it crumbles under the weight of its own ambition! Don't add so much: develop and explore the possibilities of one idea. Explore layers of one story, go deep into its madness, just like Bloober Team and Frictional Games and Red Barrels and Red Candle do. I know that you can do it cause you've got the vision, the talent and the knowledge.

I can't get enough of this game

This game is a masterpiece. I found about it by accident on GOG. I looked at the pics and at the trailer and it looked interesting : psychological horror with a dead girl ? what the hell ? I'm in xD I pre-ordered it...and I don't regret it. The game setting during WW2 is a great idea. The team captured the atmosphere really good. The story, the music, the graphics, the suspense...everything is on point. It's a pity that it has an ending. I would play it non stop xD The game is about 6-7 hours long which is ok. I played their other game(which I got it for free when I pre-ordered Martha is dead) Town of Light which is a great game. I recommend that as well. It's shorter than this one, it's about 3-4 hours and...they are connected in a way xD

Maybe wait.

This is a gorgeous game with amazing atmosphere... but probably wait until a patch comes out. I am playing on a 11600K, 3070 ti, and nvme ssd and there are significant frame drops regularly (90+ average to suddenly 40-50), when you are outdoors the terrain that is far away will flash in and out, and worst of all in 2 hours of play I had the game crash twice. Like I said this game has real promise but it needs to be optimized and polished for it to be truly great. And yes, it is rather short, but as someone who plays plenty of horror games it is not unusually short. In fact it is longer than most. That's why it is $30 not $60

A good game

The game is interesting and manages to keep interest, however it breaks rythm often with chapter introdcutions and text, the graphics are gorgeous and the level of detail makes it really immersive. The sound is perfect for it, both voice acting and soundtrack are very good. But the optimization is awful, the stuttering is almost constant and struggles to maintain an steady FPS to the point where it makes playing annoying. Haven't yet fibished but it does seem like it lacks some replayability. Overall, it's a good game for the price it has and shows the studio has some good potential, it's a nice title to play in between large games
