Good idea, bad Implementation
You lose all your gold and troops after (mostly) every chapter. After it happens once or twice, there's no motivation anymore to level your troops or to buy better armor. You're going to lose everything in 20 mins anyway.

Combat Okay Quests Tiresome
It took me a couple of goes to get up to speed on how to play the game - it helped when I took the melee character as he is significantly easier to play with. Once I got the hang of things the first few levels were quite fun. But as I went on the quests got duller, and grindier, and involved far to much moving from end to end of the map then back again. The description talks as though you get to choose your path - you don't. You certainly can't live by your conscience on the main quests - if you don't betray people for no discernable reason other than that the game requires it you cannot progress. It is very linear and, in the end, very tiresome. Oh, and no game should mention the term 'RPG' in its description if it doesn't have a manual. I'm not sure the options taken in the skill trees made any significant difference in practice, but it would have been nice to be able to read up on what they were supposed to do and how the game designers expected them to work. Overall, some nice ideas but, sadly, not recommended.

Surprisingly great
When I bought the game I expected a way simpler experience than I got; the narrative is way longer than I would have thought, and has more complexity and depth than I expected. I also really enjoyed the artstyle, the gameplay (both combat and outside of it), the travelling across the map and this wonderful soundtrack. The way supernatural/fantasy elements were included into the otherwise realistic world was also really enjoyable

Very faulty product
I'm glad I bought it on a sale and didn't spend more than 10$. It's not worth any penny more. The combat is utterly broken and illogical. The map and interface are severly lacking. Navigation is hellishly cumbersome. Quests are uninteresting and badly written. After each chapter you LOSE all your investment in soldiers and their gear. Anything positive? The music. That would be it. I advise you to stay away from this game. It's not worth your time.

HOMM had a baby with M&B
>Eisenwald is a delightful mixture of HOMM movement, combat and map, M&B real time movement on the overland map and an intriguing story. >Any fans of either game mentioned will quite possibly have an extremely delightful experiece with Eisenwald. >The Gameplay is fluid, the only thing that bugged me was during the overland map movement, if you change the destination while the hero is moving then the game pauses and you must re-calculate the destination. >The combat is tactical turn-based, support units, archers, frontline units, all that adds a cool layer of strategy to the game. >The tutorial is quite adequate, in that it makes you understand how to get about the game, explains everything in simple and understandable words. >Its definitely a five star from me, and anyone who gives the game a shot, but really gives it a chance, they will thoroughly enjoy it, and end up coming to it time and time and time and again.
