I'd played nearly all the "Legacy of Kain" games on the PS2, and each game was amazingly well done. The story was original and deep, almost novelesque. The cinematics, voicing, and in-game atmosphere were outstanding for that time-period. Movement and action was smooth and polished. All these characteristics comprised in a game for console was exceedingly rare at the time; I imagine the PC versions are even better. Please don't miss out on this experience!
Bon Jeux, plein de souvenir... MAIS la version français est totalement bugué dans les menus, on ne peut rien configurer ! Les mots ne correspondent pas au option !

This game has mindblowingly awesome story and voice acting, especially if you played the other games in the series.
The visuals are great and atmospheric, underlined by a subtle music fitting the theme.
The puzzles aren't impossible to solve and very rewarding.
The combat is done very well since in many cases it can be avoided, using weapons and ways to kill the enemies is definitely a highlight here.
This is one of my favorite games of all times and I highly recommend it to anyone.

Out of all the games in the franchise, it may very well be the best experience the game that plays the best and is the most polished out of all 5 legacy of kain games, but it is not my favorite. But it is worthy of being called the best the series had ever had to offer.
p.s. if you play this game before Blood Omen, theres not much point in playing Blood Omen, SIMPLY because soul reaver 2 is basically everyones recap of blood omen.
I've been investing some time in the "Kain" games recently, and I've gotten mixed results.
First, you need to solve the DirectX issue if you want to play this on Win10:

Copy that and stick it in the game folder, and the game works right. GOG should have done this in the first place...
Anyway, this game is a real chore. Long, dragegd out cut scenes that you cannot skip seem to be the biggest complaint. Yes, the story is lovely and all but let's be real about this: we play video games to play them. At least that's what I do. The story should be integrated in the gameplay, and games like this come across as pretentious when the first 45 minutes of the game is spent watching videos. This has been an unfuriating part of how video games have evolved, to the point where with some games, like this one, actually playing the game is secondary to the screenplay. One scene took so long that my controller went into sleep mode. Not a good sign.
I am pretty disappointed. At least I fixed the bug, but in the end, who cares? Same points are 1 hour apart and the majority of your time is spent "with the story" and the rest of the gameplay is shallow and boring. I'm moving on.
