Outstays it's welcome, otherwise great
It's easy to get lost in KCD1, swept away by the world, the people in it, it's story and interacting with it. It was incredible. KCD2 is somewhat more of the same, with a mix of improvements and sidegrades, so the first half was amazing. It was stable, with only a few minor bugs, and most changes from the first game worked well. 5/5. But then it kept going and going. The story went from charming and egaging to increasingly predictible or faceplamingly implausable. The number of people involved kept growing until it was hard to care about them and the history you had toegether. The landscape went from fascinating and fun to explore to plain, with travelling becoming a chore. The technique for fighting stagnated, managing inventory a bore, and any skill improvement went unnoticed. Getting to the end was a grind. 3/5. So I've averaged the parts to 4/5. Games of this scale rarely exude passion of it's creators, but this does. It's still very much worth playing, but when you start to lose interest put it down and come back later because it doesn't get better. Maybe wait until the DLC expands the late game with some variety.
