Good story, clunky game

After enjoying Pegasus Prime so much, going to Buried in Time is going to a game that is obviously less polished. There are time sequences, sudden deaths, dead ends, unskippable videos that cannot be paused or cannot be repeated, pixel hunting, a navigation system which is simply awful and backtracking that can only be defined as brutal. But the lore is good, with a time travel story that mixes with Star Trek kind of aliens (where, btw, humans are the only ones that act individually it seems) and quite nice educational value. It is just... to clunky to enjoy nowadays.

A complete joy!

Seriously, can someone please get out there and crowd fund the planned 4th episode of this series??? Again, a top/god tier point and click. Great puzzles, a best-ever sidekick matched only by Crow in the original The Longest Journey, a fun look at 4 important historical episodes as you time jump to figure out who has framed you for betraying all things Journeyman (ie, time travel). There's even a Monty Python and the Holy Grail reference, and it's almost worth it to get killed or otherwise transitioned out of the game to see what happened to your character (eg, in Chichen Itza, if you leave the pyramid you're exploring, you get hailed as a god by the native Mezzo-Americans since you're wearing a time travel suit. Word of advice:get Arthur (sidekick) as your first mission. This game is from a generation that, like Zork:Nemesis, is mainly running around exploring and solving problems, but they managed to include an action sequence in Chichen Itza where you have to jump between moving parts of a bridge over a deep gorge. It's fun, it's funny, it rewards thorough exploration. Just a must-have if you like this genre.

Happy Memories

I lost myself in this game when it was new and I look forward to finding a little time now and then to do so again. Thank you GOG for making this game happen again :-)

Good game but aweful navigation

This is a very good game with an interesting storyline (I have played the first game, but never finished due to a bug). The challenge I found was not so much the puzzles in this game but getting around. The idea was straightforward enough with the L, R, U, D arrows. However, it is very easy to get lost and have problems finding one's way back to where you were (Reminded me of the same problem in Rama). Linked to this issue is the obscurity of the items one needs to solve a puzzle: their location was obscur and the logic behind some items was dubious. One can die and I certainly did. So, save often using a file name that uniquely identifies where you were (the ability to generate meaningfull save names is good). If you want to get the highest score, don't use Arthur's Hints (you'll lose points and frankly his hints weren't useful, nor were his comments: he rabbits on and on at times, and as a downunder bloke I had problems with his accent). I accept that as Gage, one is peering through a helmet visor, but the attrempt at realism went too far for me in that the viewing area was dramatically limited. I have Journey Man III on order thru ebay and hope that this annoyingv feature has been eliminated.
