Nice game for the old-schools :)
I played through the game and enjoyed the feeling of the old time of Blood, Shadow Warrior and Duke Nukem 3D but I think, the younger generation would no have fun with this game.

A strong favorite!
If i had to decide between Rage 2 or Ion Fury... id leave the room. Because this game is great! Visually, the game is what you would have seen in 1996, but with a lot more detail, not just textures, but also the quality of level build. Shadows, lights, debris and clutter, but also foliage and grass. Voxel graphics still blow my mind, you dont notice its an old tech, it just fits in perfectly. The controls are spot on! Its quick, its precise, unless you try to balance on a sprite (lol). Did i mention its quick? My god its quick. Run and gun, you deliver Headshots on a whim you jump over enemies to avoid getting shot, just to turn over and blast into their backs. You can crouch to avoid shots, but the AI learns, and just aims lower. The audio is crisp, there is occasionally some white noise in the back? could be the samples or intended by the Development Team - i can't tell, but it helps the mood. The music Helps big time carrying the pace of the game and feels conform to the era of BACK THEN Performance wise, the game don't ask for a SLI setup, its a 100mb game, you wont see blurry textures because there is no filtered textures. CRIPSY PIXELY FUN! So Mostly you prolly needed a good CPU. I ran the DEMO on an overclocked I5 2500K @ 4.4GHz and it ran fine, did choke once or twice when there was lots of detail on the screen. I am running the full game now on an overclocked I7 8700K @ 5.0 GHz and i have not noticed anything. Both CPUs ran with the same video card a GTX 1080 (not TI) I will update the review once i ran the game on my 13 years old laptop TL;DR This game is great fun, that takes you back to a time when you were 12-18 years old, and its just as fun. One of the best FPS games this decade
I've played through the other "big three" Build engine games (Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, and Shadow Warrior) and this one easily sits among them. If you love the boomer shooters of the 90s, you absolutely owe it to yourself to pick this one up. There's more than enough content to justify buying at full price (a meager $25). You'll be spending days tracking down every well-hidden secret and easter egg. My one complaint is that the GOG edition has no achievements, whereas the Steam version does. I hope the devs implement this soon for us GOG customers.

Well, it's better than Shadow Warrior...
...but only barely. The standard weapons felt really weak (explosives seemed okay, though), the enemy variety was interesting at first, but quickly became boring and tired by the second act. The level design is...okay, I suppose. Graphically, I can't complain - the game looks, and also sounds, fantastic. I just got tired of enemies that barely make a noise suddenly draining my health every 5 steps in certain sections of the map. A lot of the enemies can see you well before you can see them, which leads to a lot of tedium. I feel like a lot of this problem could have been solved by just making a low poly FPS in something like the Quake 3 engine because that's how the enemies are laid out. For flat, 2D sprites, they are way too easy to miss among the background. And again, they can 'see' and shoot you well before you see them the first time. Having just played another old FPS from the late 90's that I had never touched before and loved it, I can safely say that Ion Fury nailed the look and style of the old Build Engine games, but it's not as good as either Duke3D or Blood. I guess people can always play it if they're desperate for a throwback to better gaming days.
