I-76 Best Car Combat Ever!
I have always loved this game. The story is good and great car combat. Now with the dgVoodoo tool running at 2560X1440 makes it playable on my 32" monitor. I wish this title would get a remake on todays hardware. Fun Game!

Couldn't get it to run on Linux
Figured I'd write one more thing here that just popped into my mind... Can someone limit the number of cores this game uses to 1 and retry starting it? I forgot to try that after I bought it and I already refunded it. My guess is that it is one of those games that crashes if you have more than one core available.

an all time great, mostly revived
I76 is far better than any of the other combat games for one simple reason--location based damage. Just like a well known pen'n'paper game, armor on each side of the vehicle and each of the components are tracked separately. This is hugely important both offensively (save ammo by concentrating on one side of an enemy) and defensively (you'll need to protect a wounded side, and on longer missions you'll need to adjust your tactics to spread damage around) -- which makes it far far more interesting than Twisted Metal or other alternatives. Moreover the physics is fairly convincing including handling difficulty on rough terrain or with tire damage. Sadly, whatever dimwit suits were in charge at Activision didn't realize the virtues of what they had so the sequel I82 and all the spinoffs were dumbed down to be like TM and were thus pointless. Besides the tactical meatiness, which is enough by itself--there is the awesome music, great humor, and nice (admittedly vary sparse) environments. I'm sorry to say this gog version is not up to the standards of all my previous gog purchases, and that was quite a disappointment. The raw version is unplayable with or without the -d3d option. Fortunately the glide version seems solid during actual gameplay. The menus get glitched color palettes sometimes, the cutscene movies are almost always screwed up, and there is a bunch of rainbowing in the main menu. Still it is totally playable, very fun and I'm glad I bought it even though I still have the original cd's. 5 stars for the game, 6 really, but docked down to 4 for rough edges on this release.

Great game, but too many glitches
This old version of I76 really puts your patience to the test. The game crashes at any second you could think of, When you think you've just completed a mission, The game quits and you can start all over again. GOG should definetely make some sort of patch that solves the many glitches and errors in this game. If you're thinking about buying this, be prepared for a lot of trouble. The game itself is fantastic, an amazing story with a lot of fun missions. It's extremely action packed, after a few missions you will find yourself driving top speed down a dirt road, blasting the creepers to pieces. The 70s styled cars are a plus as well. Graphics are seriously dated, but the soundtrack is one of the best game themes ever. Once again, a great game, but there should be some patch to fix all the errors.

You can do this by installing custom patch to this game. you can find it on interstate76(dot)com write here in reviews section and i will try to point precisely where patch is available. Tested and working behind NAT using UPNP:) i cannot put here direct links due GOG limitation. you can use any internet connection now.
