Heroes of Might and Magic® 4: Complete

Miss a long time, childhood memories, I remember when I was still playing DVD，hahaha The three-in-one package is also cost-effective, just hope that there will be a Chinese version of the back Although I can easily win the game with my childhood memory, it is still awkward to play without Chinese. If you have ever played the epochal Master of Magic, I bet you thought of something like "Ahh, the NWC guys are sooo good, I wish they took Master of Magic and brought it to life". Well, here you go! :) This is as close to MoM as you can get in HoMM: global spells actually can do something useful, heroes fight, the combat map view is essentially the same (albeit, turned right instead of left), wandering monsters! Unfortunately, by the time HoMM 4 was released most of it's core audience were HoMM3 adepts, so they just did not understand the spirit of those changes. Hence the image of "Heroes 3 with a twist". Plus the game was quite raw (use Equilibrium mod, use it!) and the graphics (after shiny and polished Heroes 3) were plain ugly (I especially love the bridge models). Still, to me HoMM IV was the pinnacle of the series, while HoMM 5 is kind of "Heroes 3 3D More of the Same for the masses". So if you want to play something that is like both Heroes and MoM combined - this is your best choice. The other would be Elemental (after it gets more patches).

Does not work on large wide screen: gives black window and sound only (Windows 10). Fixed with setting screen resolution to 1014x768 before launching the game. Nice game and especially soundtracks! Big HOMM fan throughout the years and really enjoyed HOMM IV. Graphics are solid, music is great, gameplay is fantastic. If you're looking for a game that will suck life from your bones and keep you glued to your PC then pick up HOMM IV. You won't regret it, but wife/husband/boyfriend/girfriend/kids/boss might...

Heroes of Might & Magic 4 is a flawed but underrated turn-based strategy game. Like the other games in the series, you recruit armies of fantasy creatures and fight tactical, chess-like battles. Heroes 4 was rushed, which means it's not as polished as the rest of the series. The AI is probably the most notable deficiency. It does alright, but you'll undoubtedly see it do some boneheaded things. Some minor but obvious quality-of-life improvements are missing. There are no major problems, but it's enough to comment on. A lot of major gameplay changes were made from the earlier games. Heroes 4 has the most RPG elements in the series, to the point where you can forgo recruiting monsters and instead wander around the map with a party of adventurers. This is so much fun that it makes up for some of the changes that I didn't like, such as getting rid of unique bonuses for each hero. Instead of starting with cool special abilities, you make your hero unique over time. It's not a bad system, but heroes feel more interchangeable. Some other aspects of the series were also streamlined, making this one of the easiest HOMM games to pick up and play. The graphics are pretty good, though the game doesn't support modern widescreen monitors unless you're willing to install an unofficial patch. The music is amazingly good and is worth the game's price by itself. In keeping with the streamlined nature of the game, the tactical combat isn't especially complex, but it's a lot of fun. The campaigns are also fun. Recommended if you enjoy both classic CRPGs and turn-based strategy games. If you're not into CRPGs, this might be veer too far away from the classic TBS formula for your taste.
