Great game! Fun, new mechanisims etc.
Even though my graphic card is like 33% below the minimum requirement, the game plays great on medium settings. I really liked Obduction and all of the Cyan / Myst games and this one I really like too. There's a lot of story to it, good music, a lot to see etc.

Worth my time
Having completed the game, I have to say that while it's not without its issues, it was a very enjoyable experience. The story is unfolded very, very slowly as you awake with no memory and take on the role of a Keeper. There is a mystery to who you are and the role you are meant to serve and the story is in no hurry to spell it out for you. I ran this game in 2d on a laptop with an Xbox 360 controller, and while I did experience a few small technical problems, it ran with largely no issues. The puzzles are all spatial in nature. Some of them are more difficult than others but having played Cyan games for most of my life, that's exactly what I would expect. The realms themselves are breathtaking and I have nothing but praise for the environmental design. I would recommend this if you are familiar with and enjoy Cyan's other games.

Crap on release
Backed it on KS. Downloaded it. Won't start. Nice. Also, none of the extras I bought are listed here, which means going back to Fangamer I guess, since my soundtrack download failed. KS backers who bought the all digital should simply be credited here with the Keeper edition rather than the standard one allowing us to download all the extras HERE in one place, together with the backer DLC. Disappointing to say the least. Been an "early adopter" of Cyan stuff since 93, but this is BAD.

Another good one from Cyan
While not as long as I expected it would be, Firmament definitely has that Cyan touch. The story was different than I anticipated, and I enjoyed the mystery gnawing at my mind on what it was all about. The ending caught me quite by surprise. It would have been nice for the end scene to be a mid-game goalpost, followed on by further fleshing out the story. Some of the puzzles are challenging because the physics system requires you line things up just right. The graphics were ok, but not as antialiased or smooth as I expected and personally reminded me of Riven. Overall, I'm satisfied with this game. Still glad Cyan is doing their thing. I've played all the Myst games over the years and love them. Firmament could have only been better if it were longer. Perhaps a sequel is in order, eh Cyan?

Great game, bad bugs
Played through this game on Steam in a mix of normal ("pancake") mode and VR mode. Aside from the bugs, I really enjoyed it! I would say Firmament is about as easy as Myst - a game I was able to finish without ever checking a guide. (And WAY easier than Riven - a game I had to use a guide for MULTIPLE times.) The story and world building was interesting enough, and I LOVED the ending. Others (who are sharper than me) may have seen it coming, but I didn't. And the final area was stunning in my opinion. Cyan has stated that they wrote the lore themselves, and used A.I. tools to help present the lore to the player, which seems strange but at least it's not as egregious as simply generating all the lore from scratch with A.I. I suppose. (Still bit of a murky area though, especially since some of the art was generated that way.) When I played it, the bugs were SO bad that they had to add a "recover stuck character/reset puzzle" option in the menu screen (something I don't think exists in any other Cyan game). And considering that the puzzles are a major part of the game... it's a pretty bad look. Still, I thought most of them were fun (especially in VR) so I still enjoyed them overall. But your mileage may definitely vary. Firmament is far from perfect, not Cyan's best work, and yet STILL worth a play-through.
