looks like Cyan, doesn't play like it..
not an expert gamer, but long time Cyan fan of Myst, Riven etc. Those worlds were (mostly) uninhabited but full of life - you felt like the residents might come back at any moment - and the puzzles were engaging in all sorts of ways (and yes, I always end up needing a walkthrough at some point because it's easy to miss some key clue). As a KS backer, I waited patiently for Firmament to be released, and even then, because of all the bugs, waited for patch #6 so I could just enjoy the game.... * the worlds of Firmament are beautiful in a cold, detached way - and there was zero depth to the illusion - you can't pick up the myriad books and other objects around, they are only eye-candy. * hated the adjunct - this is just such a shortcut for the developers, probably a VR thing I guess, I much preferred older style puzzles where figuring out the controls was part of the puzzle. * the puzzles are mostly a matter of turning everything on whenever you have a choice - except for the 3 more complex puzzles which were ok but again quite linear to solve. * The Embrace (the "big moment") at the end was quite the anticlimax, and the ending itself (canned) was trite - I guess the lack of character development and story meant that I just didn't care one way or the other I'm glad I backed it, I'm glad I played it, but unlike previous Cyan games, I can't imagine wver recommending it or playing it again... oh well.
