Buy this instead of those AAA games plagued with expensive-as-sh** DLCs and micro-transactions. Get "games as a service" back to the ash heap of gaming history!

Good Rpg
I dont regret buying it. Nice looking world,diversity between frozen wastelands and lush forest etc Clunky but not annoying combat(at least i test so far old fashioned meele and bows) Story seems to be consistent without any plotholes so far. Enemies are challenging sometimes even very annoying due their tactic quantity over quality and hey diffrent species of animals or whatever other things are fighting each other wich can be taken as advantage Companions are actually usesfull(i highly recommend u to get C.R.O.N.Y asap if u play on highest difficulties,very usesfull little one) Jetpack good remedy on that blasted mountains and open up new way to run for urs life or tactical advantage(in my case mostly running) Music is okay nothing special yet nothing that would make my ears bleed Main character is likeable(i like his collected nature) Good optimization stable fps no drops.no crashes.

Worked well for me!
Got this as boxed version. In short: If you already know and love other games from Piranha Bytes, this should be a no brainer. Even if the setting might put you off at first, give it a shot. It's a cool game in the way you came to love them. Everyone else: I can only encourage you to give Elex a try and have some patience. You really need to invest a couple of hours to come to grips with it. Do this and it might well be you'll catch the Piranha Bytes bug, well... no pun intended, but yeah, their games got bugs. Just save and quicksave the s**t out of it and you'll be fine. Speaking for myself, I'm a complete sucker for any PB game. IDK these games just have a certain groove that I totally dig.

Slightly flawed but excellent RPG
Elex is definitely a game that you need to have patience with. Where this game really shines through is exploration and slowly becoming more powerful in the world of Elex. It definitely gives you that sense of achievement when you are finally able to wipe out a group of Reavers with health potions to spare, where before you were a short snack for a Biter - and it is a very long road before you can get to that point. The enjoyment level is a bit of a roller coaster ride. I'm either playing it until the wee hours of the morning, forcing myself to stop, or playing it for no more than an hour before I rage quit from being killed by a low level monster, or suffering a glitch, or just plain bored. The way quests are given and followed is a bit lacklustre - again typical of a PB game - where it doesn't really give you much direction. The more hardcore fans will say this is because it doesn't hold your hand, I just think it's sloppy implementation to be honest, and often I found myself solving a quest by accident, or just bored running around wondering what to do next. The combat itself is ok, however it does tend to have typical tropes of a PB game. The stamina system is broken (why does it even need one?) which makes pouring skill points into ranged combat a must. It gets a lot better after level 10 or so, before that it is a real grind, and you won't be able to take on much. Levelling your character is ok, however knowing when and where to distribute points is difficult in the beginning, if you haven't played the Gothic series it'll be a new system entirely - it's not a very good system to begin with. Can't understand why they included the whole 'Cold' mechanic. Reminds me a lot of Mass Effects Renegade mechanic, and it's kinda useless, and feels a bit tacked on. Finally, you have to join a faction to progress the story, and I don't know if it's just me, but none of the factions seem like a party I'd want to be a part of. I actually really hate most of the NPC's in the game world. They all come across as selfish A-holes.

Not Skyrim pace
This is a great game, solid story and lots of quests ... not Skyrim pace, so you need to do quests and run from monsters until like level 15. This makes the game very unique, you need to run and hide more than fight ... strategy and stuff. After you get enough level u can kill a lot of monster, but exploring, questing and getting to know the factions make it really unique. Keep in mind that 40h is a lot of time for this game and factions dont matter that much...
