Love this game, and the world it is in. One of the best old school rpg's out there.

More like First Impressions
I played the game when it was first released digitally on...something, anyway years ago. I didn't play it much, perhaps a handful of hours. This is from what I remember, just in case I might help someone. But take it for what it is. It's a European RPG, German IIRC in origin. Has lots of depth, good looking graphics for the time it was released and fun combat system. As you can probably see from the screenshots, the graphics had a very late 00s style, which is natural. If you like RPGs, for the the price on sale it is a no brainer. Take it. For full price, you will get several hours out of it so even if you don't love it, it's not bad. I never finished the game, nothing to do with the game, so please don't take this as a full review.

Good implementation of the Dark Eye RPG.
There are some annoying problem with the combat party AI and pathfinding, and especially at the beginning it's very annoying. Pratically, no matter if the party AI is set to aggressive or passive, your companions more often than not straight up charge to the enemy, or they can't position themselves properly but starts to run around like headless chicken. There are some other minor nuisances like an incredible slow running speed and corridors dungeon that are filled with one, maximum two kind enemy. It becomes boring pretty fast. Otherwise the game is good, i suggest to edit the party run speed.

Pure Nostalgia
This was one of my very first RPGs. It has a fantastic calming atmosphere which always reminds me of the "good old" days when you went home from school after a troublesome day and just dived into this magnificant world.

If you like beeing frustrated try it
Positive: It runs. GoG did what the original cd version doesn't wanted to do anymore. Negative: The biggest negative factor is the totally stupid combat system. Before someone starts with "learn the system, learn to play etc": I know the system. Played the pen and paper version for years. Have beaten all games of this series before. If you (like me) like tactical combat: stay away from this title. There are NO tactics. Example: Positioning three armored melees to block a narrow path, so that in theory no enemy can pass and the ranged/caster is proteced. This game: Pure chaos. Will your characters stop enemies from running right through them? Nope. Will they run through enemy lines to hit the enemy right in front of them from some seemingly random angle? Yes they will. Will they often totally ignore your orders ("like stand still and get healed" or "the three melees to the front, caster stay way behind")? Yes they will. Will they f*** up every tactic you try? Most likely. Winning combats is pure gambling. Minor negative: The game doesn't care what you play. You are a dwarf, standing before three dwarfs that try to scam you? Can you call them out and pray the rage of father angrosch on them? Nope. You get the same stupid vanilla lines everyone gets.
