DOOM (2016)

I don't want to go into a deep intellectual review that's just describing all the obvious masterful aspects of this game with a lot of words. This gem is just fun to play and makes wasting time a joy. Simple as that. I'm almost 50 years old and played loads of games. I can't tell you how much this game helps me to wind down after a long day. It really does! Metal music + Action = Yoga. Results may vary :) Get it and try for yourself. BAM BAM

I've never actually played any of the Doom games until now. I've mostly enjoyed them vicariously through lets plays and the like, but I've always wanted to try them, but felt hesitant since I'm really not a hard core gamer. Those feelings were compounded when I tried to play Dusk (a game I was told was fairly similar in concept to Doom 2016) and failed to gel with it. I figured that it was just easier for me to enjoy these sort of fast-paced shooters as a third party rather than playing them. And cut to 2025, and I see Doom available here on GOG. And I figured, if I really still wanted to try it, GOG was the best place to get it. And boy, am I glad I did. Its so different, but also weirdly accessible? I'm currently playing it on the lowest difficult (sorry to the hardcore fans out there), but it feels good and comfortable for me right now, starting out. I've only progressed a few levels (finished Foundry at the time of writing) and I've enjoyed my time immensely. The visuals are spectacular; the combat brutal and the story is also super interesting. For a game that's 9 years old, its holding up amazingly well. I'm having a great time so far. Admittedly, I don't know if it'll keep up with that pace; I hope it will and that I can finish the game, but even if I don't, I still sunk a good four hours so far and I'll keep trying until I hit a wall. If anyone else was like me; feeling uncertain about your skill level and such, don't be. Doom might not hold your hand, but it certainly doesn't just chuck you in the deep end either. Its really, really solid and really, really fun!! And considering how often it discounts super low, there's really no harm in giving it a shot! My only really issue is there seems to be some weird audio bug where the sound doesn't work on my headphones unless I shift up the settings, but its a minor gripe. All in all, I highly recommend (but that's no surprise at all, is it?)

Thanx GOG for adding this masterpiece to your catalog of games. I already bought this game on steam (retail version) back in 2016 and loved it .. again I bought it on Playstation 4 (retail collector edition with Blu ray) and now on GOG for fantastic price of just 3.69 euros =). Too bad that it doesn't come with bots practice in multiplayer but for that price I got a LOT!!

As someone who was not around when the original DOOM games released, this one caught my attention when the first trailer dropped and I've been a DOOM fan since, so much so I bought this game 3 times across multiple platforms and finally the last on GOG. Great game, worth the price.

first doom game ive played and im having so much fun, gave me some titanfall 2 vibes for some reason and I love it. that was my first fps and this game brings back a lot of memories
