DOOM (2016)

This title, when compared to DOOM Eternal, appears as the "for the noobs" but that's not a bad thing; there is nothing better than coming home from work and ripping demons in half with little effort at lower difficulties or fights that will have you leaning forward on nightmare.

It's kind of like Doom 3, where you played as Doom Dude (not to be confused with Doomguy, completely separate person), but less messing around with wacky touchscreen interfaces, and more shooting imps in the face with a (not an RNG rubber chicken) shotgun. Ft. Serious Sam crescendo events where many demons spawn in an area and you have to shoot them in the face to proceed. The Oblivion remake isn't coming on here for many years, but this is a pleasant surprise. Thanks lads.

It captures the modern feel with the fast pace of Doom 1 & 2.

I think I like this even better than Doom Eternal

Been waiting for this to come to GOG for a while.. Better late than never, right?! I will echo the sentiments stated by others: This is an exceptional entry into the Doom series! One can't go wrong with this game. The controls are as exact and customizable as one would expect and the GFX, sound & world design are top tier! As of the writing of this review, this game is 8 years old, but if you didn't know that fact, you could be forgiven for thinking is a recent title. It's held up and aged that well! There is enough challenge to test your metal, but not so very much that it will be an unforgiving beat-down. You will have make decent effort to progress through the game, yet you will find a way if you persist! My single complaint is the install size(60+GB). However, when we look at the complexity of the visuals, it is not difficult to understand how much space it took. Still, compression could have been used to good effect here. This is a minor complaint and does not detract from the experience of this masterful game. Just a heads-up if you're short on storage space. Buy it, download, install, play, rock on!!
