I love this game, but...

I played this game on Xbox way back in the day. And I beat it. I love the sense of humor, the absolute silliness of the whole thing, and I feel they carried that over to this remake quite well. The game controls great, the humor is still intact, and if feels great to blow everything up. So why 2/5? The bugs. Especially toward the end of the game. I literally cannot beat the final level because the game keeps glitching out. Controls lock and send me flying in random directions (to my death). The framerate suddenly stutters and I cannot react fast enough to incoming attacks (I adjusted my settings, made no difference). That's not even mentioning a bunch of audio drops, graphical glitches, controller problems I had with this game. And it is not me. All my other games work just fine, with and without controllers. I love this game. So much. And I want to give it a good review. But I can't. This remake left me deeply disappointed by the end, to the point where I don't want to play it anymore. And I don't think I will be purchasing any of the other Destroy all Humans games if they get remade either. Because I love the second game even more than the first, and I don't want my memories ruined by game breaking bugs.

Absolutely wonderful remake

I played the original on the original xbox and thie remake captures what the original game wanted to do perfectly. The improved graphics and cutscenes really polish the game up well and makes for an improved experience. Adding checkpoints at various points in the missions makes restarting missions on fail less of an issue. For the game itself, it's wonderful! It embraces the classic era of sci fi alien invaders movies by just going full force into the various tropes of the genre. Controls are intuitive (more so than when it was on console IMO) and the game provides plenty of opportunity to have fun, Even the small number of stealth missions were executed in a way that didn't feel like a chore, as many games tend to do. A total recommendation.

Want more

After finishing the game, i can say i love it. I never player the first game, but i still like it, even without the nostalgia. The good : - Funny story with quite fun dialogues. I like that it doesn't care about puting in satire about almost everything. - Funny NPC lines : THEM (a cult classic movie), They came to kick ass and chew bubblegum.... - Anal probing, telekinesis, fireworks...very fun weapons. - Nice graphics. From the few images i've seen of the first game, the graphics seem taken from the first game and upgraded nicely. - A few quite satisfying cut scenes. - Polished gameplay. The controls feel nice and slick. The bad : - Troughout my gameplay, i found one bug : sometimes if i use the holobob on a random NPC, when i look another way they would disapear canceling my disguise. Hope they will patch this and make NPC used for diguises stay. - Too short. Thought the story is very nice, the game didn't give me enough to feel satisfied. Without spoiling the story, it seems to me the devs are saying there might be more coming in the future. Time only will tell.
