Presses all the right buttons...

Yeah I know, CDPR got a lot of hate for the general buggyness but on my slightly aged system (i7-6700K, GTX 1080) it ran just fine on max. settings and 1080p. I'm taking a star off my rating but won't complain too much otherwise as a lot of people have already said (too) much about that anyway. I just want to say I really liked the game. I liked the world, the map, the characters, the story & the gameplay. Yes there's room for improvement but in the end, Cyberpunk 2077 is more than the sum of its parts and it all came together beautifully. Oddly enough, what actually bothered me the most was that the cars! Everybody agrees the driving is rubbish so I'm not going to say more about that. No, what I actually hated was that cars have "features" like open fenders (Turbo-R for instance) and only one Headlight (Thrax). Yeah I know, they look cool, but these designs wouldn't work even in the "sci-fiest" sense. I'm probably more sensitive to this because I'm both a motoring enthusiast and a design engineer but still; I feel it breaks immersion and at the same time it would've been really easy to avoid if they ran the vehicle designs past someone who understands cars at some point.

En très bref, et pour résumer une énième fois ce qui a été dit partout, les qualités sont bien plus rares que les défauts sur Cyberpunk 2077. Une ville assez chouette en apparence. Une bande son appréciable. Une histoire prenante mais brève. Et ... c'est tout. CD Projekt s'embourbe une fois de plus dans les mêmes erreurs techniques que l'on trouvait dès The Witcher. Titre après titre, le studio n'arrive pas améliorer la recette et le tout reste très lourd à l'utilisation. L'ergonomie des menu... argh. La lourdeur du gameplay. Les ennemis sac à PV. Les bugs ! Le ciblage des loots. D'autres problèmes inhérents aux mondes ouverts actuels du studio gangrènent également Cyberpunk 2077. La quantité pharaonique de composants et crafts inutiles. Les camps d'ennemis. La maniabilité des moyens de transports. Une carte trop grande car mal maitrisée. Une verticalité presque inéxistante pour une ville d'une telle ampleur. L'IA. Une furtivité lassante. Et finalement, l'absence de composante RP qui en fait un simple jeu d'action/fps. Alors oui, j'ai pris la peine de lire tous les textes trouvés en jeu. L'ensemble du jeu me fait penser à un Deus Ex ... la maîtrise de l'environnement et du gameplay en moins. Et c'est vraiment dommage. A côté, on peut encore évoquer la com' désastreuse autour du jeu, l'éparpillement absurdre sur de trop nombreux suppots et des versions ancienne génération scandaleuses. Même la version PC n'était pas en reste avec d'innombrables bogues bloquant la progression. C'est tout simplement honteux de sortir de tels produits, pour ne pas dire minable. Pour un titre ayant généré autant d'argent, le suivi est également mauvais. Une année passée et aucune amélioration ne pointe à l'horizon. Sans oublier les mensonges autour des prétendus "choix" et conséquences de ces derniers. CD Projekt, vous devez vous ressaisir. Le résultat final est médiocre, et ne donne pas du tout envie de continuer à vous suivre. Je n'ai même pas envie de terminer le jeu.

Du mal à démarrer puis total addiction !

J'ai précommandé le jeu, j'ai joué à sa sortie mais je n'ai pas accroché pour plusieurs raisons : - Pas mal de bugs à sa sortie dont certains qui sortaient de l'immersion. - Une CG correct mais pas de dernière GEN sans RTX (1080ti) + écran de 24" > Au final, je n'avais pas dépassé la 3e missions de l'acte 1 et fait surtout quelques quêtes secondaires. Exactement 1 an plus tard, après plusieurs patchs (1.31), je recommence complétement l'aventure. j'ai une toute nouvelle config dont une 3080 + écran 27". Le jeu est beau, je n'ai presque pas rencontrer de bug. J'en suis à 60h de jeu en même pas 2 semaines sur la nouvelle run et je n'ai pas encore terminé l'acte 2. je prends mon temps, je me balade, je lis les éclats, il y a du contenus... Je suis parti sur un build sniper tech en mode RP. > Pour l'instant, très bon jeu.

1.5 Years later... 1.5 Patch

Played for a bit on week of release before putting it down. The game was a mess and I was in no rush. A year and a half later I gave it another go and finished in roughly 50 hours. I found some minor lighting bugs, one enemy who didn't have a death animation work properly, a couple item drops clipping into walls, and one side quest not triggering properly. The sidequest (Killing in the Name) not working was the only annoying glitch and caused me to skip it. The story was compelling with great characters, interesting dialogue, and plenty of choices, some with unique lifestory options that impacted the quest. Johnny Silverhand in particular was great, and seeing him develop alongside V was a treat. Conversations did have some issues where a dialogue option came off a lot harsher or sappier than I thought it would. The character specific side quests were great, unique, and definitely worth playing through. The side gigs however were varied in quality and fortunately optional. The combat/leveling system was great fun. Plenty of options with melee, ranged, stealth, and hacking to mix up how you want to specialize and approach combat. Specializing in combinations of these options adds variety and keeps things engaging. The open world was the most lackluster part of the game. It was decent to travel through, but not interesting enough to explore. The civilian AI is still nothing worth interacting with. Committing crimes boils down to hurt civilian, police shoot, run away. Getting the jump cyber enhancements for the legs made traversing the city much more fun and I highly recommend grabbing them first chance. Otherwise, fast travel is sufficient to get you to your story beats. At the end of it, I'd probably give this 3 stars if not for the fact I'm actually starting a second playthrough. There was enough variety in the story and romance that I'm curious to see different choice effects and try a different build for combat. Definitely worth it on sale.

Fun but buggy

It's impossible to do this game justice and point out everything that's wrong and right about it with how low GoG review character limit is. I will have to ommit things. Review done in 2022 after finishing the game on v.hard difficulty. TL;DR If you are looking for a GTA-like open-world sandbox game or an immersive-sim experience then look elswhere. Cyberpunk will break if you treat it like that. If you want an RPG-FPS that has engaging story with memorable characters and solid core gameplay then you will find a lot of fun here. Provided you have the PC to run it. You may have a bad time if you are on the low-end of the requirements. Pros: + Audiovisual quality + World design and details + Variety of playable builds + Amount of content + Story/characters + General gameplay Cons: - Buggy I only had 1 game-breaking bug with a quest objective not working. I fixed it by leaving and returning later. Most other bugs are not bad, but can be immersion breaking. Things like disappearing cars so a quest NPC can drive unobstructed. UI or FoV bugs can be fixed by quick-save/load. - Melee Enemies don't have to visibly hit you to deal damage. You may be backing away from an enemy trying to punch you and still get hit despite him being at least 3 meters away. - Difficulty 1-shot-deaths especially from chapter 3. You have to exploit cheap strategies. - Items You will look like a dumbass because the game will give you random pieces of gear that are better than ones you currently wear, but look stupid on you. - Driving Driving model doesn't feel good and often buggy AI is tied to driving. Conclusion Media bandwagon and general disappointment that it wasn't an amazing game on release made the pendulum swing in the other direction and everyone decided to hate on it. Especially if you fell victim to the notion that it was supposed to be a GTA-style game. Take it for what it is – an RPG/shooter/stealth game and you will like it despite the bugs. I'd give it a low-end 7/10.
