A few kind words
I like immersive open world games. I read probably every cyberpunk novel. I bought this game on release. I almost uninstaled it twice, but clocked already 38 hours in game. So it's not a total flop. Actually, on my scale of open world games it's an average (so a disappoinment, but a playable title). I won't talk about 1.0 bugs or performance. Instead I focus on what I did like and what didn't: The good parts: - katanas, with a controller - pedestrian and traffic density; yes, NPCs are dumb and basically should be considered a particle effect, but you get traffic jams in CP2K77, which is essential to get the feeling of the densely populated urban area; Night City feels densely populated, and yes, you should ride a bike. - art and sound direction; I'm amazed at the quantity and the quality of work that the artists did - city design; it often has multiple layers one above the other; you can seemlessly enter many buildings; lot's of areas to explore; lots of hidden places and passages; overall' it's a dense, highly detailed, hostile and inhuman city; I still haven't seen it all; advice: ride slower Bad parts: - cars and guns - inventory and shop screens are from the 90s; everything is a low-res square icon assigned to a slot; you can't even see arms & clothes before you buy them - mission intros are on the phone, often when I'm already doing some other stuff; so many opportunities to increase engagement are lost; missions are just dumped on you all together - there're too many cut scenes; basically it's a tell tale game; with too many things to read - random stuff that breaks immersion: the city is full of fast food joints but V can't eat there; the game allows to sit on bar stools in scripted missions, but won't allow to do that in free roam mode; NPCs are samey and not permanent; stuff that doesn't break (try to smash a radio, or shoot a tree) - swimming is as awful as in W3 Would I buy it again? Maybe. The game needs a major update to justify the price.
